You can't download it directly from the Amazon app. store....yet. So what you have to do is go to the ZINIO website on your FIRE - NOT ON YOUR COMPUTER. Once at the Zinio website. In the upper right hand corner, locate the HELP tab. Click on the HELP tab to find directions for downloading and installing the app to/on your FIRE. From here on it's pretty easy. I have had a ZINIO account for over a year, and have been reading the five magazines I subscribe to on my laptop. I really like ZINIO! And I like the Kindle Fire app even more than the one on my laptop! Once I installed the app on my Fire, all of my subscriptions were made available. Yes, the font size is small on the FIRE, but I think that it is sharper than on my laptop. And the photos in mags such as NatGeo and Smithsonian are "eye candy!" I agree with another reviewer that Amazon will probably make a larger version of the FIRE in the future, but this app is more than adequate until then. I predict that this will be my most-used app on the FIRE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zinio App Works on Kindle Fire!!!!! November 15, 2011
I don't know why I cannot get this app from the Kindle Fire App Store.

I bought the Kindle Fire device primarily because the price was good and wanted to read magazines on it.

After going to Zinio site, I successfully downloaded the Zinio App on Kindle Fire Device by using the link on zinio.com/help page.

I already have an Android phone. So, I know that you can go to settings menu to enable app installs from unknown sources.

Zinio app rocks so far!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine App November 16, 2011
I'm giving it 5 stars even though it can't be directly downloaded to the Fire. I know from past experience with Zinio and using it on the iPad and iPhone and computer that the app works great and has a huge selection of magazines from around the world.

According to Zinio's website [...]:

Zinio has an app for Amazon's Kindle Fire! Users who are new to Zinio and register an account through the app will receive a welcome credit by email within 24 hours of registering. Note: some users are reporting an inability to locate the Zinio app download page from their Fire. Users are encouraged to contact Kindle support here to find out why it isn't available for download, despite being approved for the device. If you have a Fire and would like to install the Zinio app now, click here.

Follow these instructions that Zinio provides:

==============================================================================
Temporary alternate download method for the Zinio app on the Kindle Fire

Note: these instructions are ONLY for users on the Amazon Kindle Fire. This installer is not supported for any other device.

1. From the main screen, tap Settings > More > Device > Allow installation of Applications (from unknown devices)> select "ON"

2. Download the APK (app installer) from here [...].

3. Select "Notifications" to monitor your download. Once the download is complete, select "Install" and press "Open" when the installation is complete.

We hope you enjoy the app! We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced when trying to install the app.

Sincerely,
Zinio Customer Support

Hope this helps all the new Kindle Fire users out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Frustration October 12, 2013
Verified Purchase
I was so excited to get my new Kindle Fire. I thought one of the features I would use the most would be Zinio so I can access my local public library magazine collection since I love to read magazines. I have had nothing but trouble accessing any magazines and have spent over 10 hours trying to get them. I've watched videos on both Amazon and Zinio and went to the library twice for help. Not worth the trouble for me. I'd rather spend my time doing something more productive

5.0 out of 5 stars Great App, But!! January 1, 2012
Verified Purchase
Love the App. It works on all my devices, better than Nook. I can view a magazine on a HTC Thunderbolt, a Samsung 7 inch tablet and on a PC.

The only problem I see is the inability to see some adult content sold through Zinio because of Google. Google policy dictates that adult content can not be downloaded through Googles Android market. The problem is the adult content, i.e. Playboy, is purchased through Zinio not Googles Android market. It's downloaded through Zinio not Android market and the Zinio reader downloaded through Google market has no adult content in it, its only a reading application.

Zinio follows Google policy (see their website). Adult content you purchase from Zinio cannot be viwed with the Zinio reader even if the Zinio reader is download free from Amazon not Google Anfroid market. So if I'm bypassing Google Android Market why does Google believe they have they right to determine what content is viewed using a app downloaded from Amazon? You can't view Playboy using the Zinio reader because of Google but you can find hardcore porn using google's search engine. Seems like Google has its priorities wrong.

Zinio needs one app for Google and a different app for Amazon, one that works on all their content.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incompatible with Kindle Fire November 15, 2011
By Bob
Verified Purchase
It seems that some people got it to work earlier today but this app has now been designated as incompatible. See statement below from a Amazon App Store rep that I contacted: "I've researched "Zinio" and found it isn't available on Kindle Fire. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

I unfortunately purchased my Kindle Fire because I thought I was going to be able to use Zinio, just want to warn anyone else who is following the same thinking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but does not include all your subscriptions
Good, but doesn't include all subscriptions I have on my computer. According to Zinio there is some kind of legal issue with Google about magazine contents. Stupid if you ask me.
