My wife and I had some wallpaper and some border to strip so that we could repaint a bedroom and bath. In combination with a spray-on gel stripper, I used this scoring tool to help with the job. I found that it does a great job of easily scoring the paper and the resulting holes do allow the stripper gel to penetrate better. If I had anything negative to say it is that in a lot of cases this is unnecessary. By doing side by side tests, I was able to get as good of results by spraying the stripper onto un-scored border as I did when using the "paper tiger." In fact, at times the scored paper was more work to remove because it tore into smaller pieces during removal.

I think this tool will be great for removing heavy/commercial wallpaper or wallpaper that has been painted over, but I also think that it is overkill for an awful lot of home use situations...

I bought this tool in '02, I had several paint contracts that year. A 5000sq ft office building with paper borders, wallpaper in restrooms and kitchen, paper from chair rail down in customer service areas, had to be painted. I admit, I kind of panicked. The salesman at my paint supplier recommended this gadget. It worked out great! A garden sprayer,wallpaper stripping solution,my Paper Tiger and a 6" drywall taping knife(about 10 garbage bags)took me about 6-7 hours to strip it all off, cleaning up the mess as I go. If not for the little Paper Tiger I might still be peeling the face off, then spraying the underlying paper backing and rolling that off a precious little at a time. Great time saver, never once penetrated the paper covering on the drywall beneath.

Sometimes the simplest tool gets the job done. I had read the reviews and decided to try it out along with the Zinsser 2486 DIF Fast Acting Spray Ready To Use Wallpaper Stripper. I followed the instructions and it worked out great. This simple tool allows the spray to soak the wallpaper. I'm not sure how it would work without the Fast Acting Spray. It does take a little arm muscle to scrape off the wallpaper and glue but it wasn't that difficult. This product met my expectations and I would definitely purchase it again.

I had to remove 30+ year old vinyl wallpaper from two bathrooms. I bought this unit at Lowes. It broke almost immediately. I jury rigged it and used it on one bathroom. It deeply scored the drywall under the wallpaper, which would have been OK if I was going to repaper, but not if I intended to paint, which I did.

I found that ripping off the vinyl layer and completely wetting the part which remained on the wall equally effective - this worthless plastic gadget really made no difference. I did not use it on the second bathroom and the paper came off easily with no damage to the drywall. Used lots of water and re-moistened with a sprayer. Allow time for the water to soak through and keep the surface moist. Search Amazon for Griots 11022 sprayer for the best sprayer.

I returned the unit for a refund - it truly was a piece of junk. I also suggest doing some research before you start - know what kind of wallpaper you have and how to best remove it. Be prepared to wash all the residual paste off after you are done - there will be lots left on the wall. Warm soapy water and a sponge will do the trick.

I wasn't sure how this item was going to work but when used in conjunction with the Zinser wallpaper removal liquid it worked just fine. All it takes is to move the Paper Tiger lightly over the paper in a circular motion several times, spray on the removal liguid, wait perhaps ten to fifteen minutes then peel the paper off the wall. I know it sounds simple but believe me that's how it worked for me. Just have some patience with this tool and the waiting time and you'll be very satisfied with the results.

The first thing to understand about wallpaper removal is that there is a lot of variety in the types of paper and adhesives and some are easier to remove than others. Your first step should be to attempt to remove the wallpaper just by peeling it off the wall. I had good luck with two rooms where the paper came off so cleanly that there was no scraping needed. Unfortunately, one other room and the hallway require scraping which is how I came to purchase this product.

The Paper Tiger is definitely worth trying. Use the tool to score the wallpaper very liberally. Make sure you don't apply too much pressure as you don't want to damage the walls. I used mine on paper over drywall and with a light application there were many small score marks and a satisfying pile of wallpaper dust on the floor when done. I then used a spray bottle with 2/3 hot water and 1/3 white vinegar. I applied a good amount of water to where the walls were wet but not dripping. Let it sit 10 minutes and then return to scrape it off. I used the Zinsser scraping tool and was very pleased with the results.

I would say that I spent about 3 times as much time scoring the paper than I did with the actual scraping. The scored and wet paper came off easily with the scraper and if you find yourself working hard scraping then perhaps you didn't use enough water or let it sit long enough. If it still doesn't work well, then perhaps a solvent like DIF is in order.

I purchased one at a local hardware store for $9.99. Started scoring, and before I had completed one wall (12 X 8') the "Paper Tiger" fell apart. I took it back, and they replaced it. I did not put much pressure on it (allowed it to do the work as the directions state) and the replacement broke before another wall was completed. This think is a piece of junk. Mostly plastic, no strength. Good idea, lousy construction. No more Paper Tigers for me.

Great product, works really well. very usefull at making wall paper srtipping easier!Works with steam stripping or liquid wall paper strippers.

Makes a horrible noise while going over the walls, but other than that, does fairly well to aid in wallpaper removal.
