This review is from: Zionism, Militarism and the Decline of US Power (Paperback)
Drop whatever you happen to be doing and run, walk or crawl to the nearest bookstore and buy this book! It is flat out phenomenal.

Dr. Petras cuts to the heart of the issues and completely dissects the Zionist Power Configuration (ZPC) in America. He ranges from the authentic reasons the U.S. is occupying Iraq, proving it has nothing to do with oil, to the pro-Israel groups and institutions that permeate American society and culture. Coming under especially harsh criticism is the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (PMAJO) and its propaganda newsletter "Daily Alert." Without fail PMAJO parrots every press briefing and talking point that emanates from Tel Aviv, regardless of how many Palestinian civilians are butchered in the process or malnourished in the Gaza concentration camp.

Petras goes on to demonstrate that Mearsheimer and Walt were too tepid in their criticism of the pro-Israel lobby and failed to address the entire Zionist power apparatus in the United States by only focusing on a small piece of it. Zionism, Militarism and the Decline of US Power explains that Israeli mouthpieces and Jewish apologists for Zionism wield strength in a much more over-arching manner. Not only are the big metropolitan areas (The Apple, LA, Miami, Chicago) inundated with bullies and cheerleaders who harass, boycott, browbeat and intimidate anybody or any institution that has the chutzpah to level an intelligent critique about Israeli violence and Zionist power, but also small and local communities across the country face the same intimidation tactics. The ZPC has a stranglehold that is powerful yet relatively invisible to most. Though of course they're not omnipotent.

A brilliant section, taking up two large chapters of the book, demonstrates that it is the ZPC that's at the forefront in rallying the United States to take up a war against Iran. Its media mouthpieces, executive branch minions and legislative lapdogs, all are beating the war drums, while only top U.S. military brass are issuing well thought out warnings against this insane rush to fight the Persian state. This internal battle within the ruling elites of America: the powerful Israel-Firsters vs independent upper echelon Pentagon analysts is looked at in great detail by Petras.

The last third of this amazing book essentially outlines a more holistic and historical analysis of American politico-economic realities with an eye toward present day Zionist power in America and the contradictions and agreements that crop up regarding various issues, power plays and areas of influence regarding the U.S. empire.

This book should not be missed, steal it if you have to. Anyone who denies, denigrates, or down plays the realities Petras reports is either a fool, a paid shill for the Israeli state, or a frightened Zionist afraid of the truth. Such an eye opening book comes around once every decade.

5.0 out of 5 stars A no-holds barred examination of the relationship between Israel and the United States, December 7, 2008
This review is from: Zionism, Militarism and the Decline of US Power (Paperback)
For something which is politically an infant, Israel has played big time on the world politics field. "Zionism, Militarism, and the Decline of US Power" is a no-holds barred examination of the relationship between Israel and the United States, and its effects on the United States pushes for a more peaceful Middle Eastern region. Arguing that the close relationship between the two could have disastrous long term effects, "Zionism, Militarism, and the Decline of US Power" has a dissenting opinion to the populous, and backs it up well.

It is about time we Americans know about the ugly face of Zionism and how it aims at controlling the whole world starting with the USA, our beloved country.

Petras does a great job in detailing the different influences that the Zionism lobbies in Washington and around the country exert on our Government, media and economy.

This is terrifying to know but a MUST read for every American, who loves his/her country.

This is a super little book. It is the third book by Prof. Petras that I have purchased. This particular book inspired me to go out and purchase four more copies for my friends. It really explains a lot about present circumstances here in the USA. I recommend this book for anyone needing an instant education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required reading for all Americans, August 1, 2010

Dr. James Petras has written a powerful book. Running contrary to the popular image of Israel, its American supporters, and the consequences for US Mideast policy, Prof. Petras spares no one. In a short book, 187 pages, Dr. Petras ranges over a wide area. His main concentration is the post September 2001and America's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. He calls attention to the close parallel between pro-Israeli elements and the pro-war elements. Petras does not solely address just the Jewish notables who championed war, but also includes government officials like Cheney, newspapers like New York Times and Washington Post, media like Fox, etc. Prof. Petras lays bare the consequences of the blind support given to Israel--the deaths of thousands of Palestinians, wide spread property destruction, and the decline of America's popularity in the Arab/Muslim world. This book is not for those who are afraid to look out of the box. It is also not a book for those who have a limited knowledge of the Middle East. The prose is sharp, direct, and expansive. Prior knowledge of the subject is required as Dr. Petras sweeps the spectrum of topics that is today's Mideast quagmire.

4.0 out of 5 stars Red Herring of the Protocols, October 25, 2011
I just wanted to point out that the points brought out in the book stand or fall on their own merit and that there is no need to introduce " The Protocols" into the discussion. It does not follow that that the author is pro Protocols just because he is against militant Zionism.

5.0 out of 5 stars What about Kennedy?, December 9, 2010
By
Real Director "Jimmy" (Los Angeles, California United States) - See all my reviews
Is anyone brave enough to mention the Kennedy assassination in any of these books? That would seem to be the most obvious example of how the state of Israel and Mossad have been running the show for decades. To those who are still not in the know -- because of the constant disinformation campaigns -- that tragedy is how Israel secured the bomb.

But setting controversy aside, it is also through the very strong-armed tactics of seemingly harmless entities like the ADL, that operate not as a lobby, but as an intelligence organ, a crime syndicate (Meyer Lansky), and most powerfully, THE ULTIMATE PROGANDA WEAPON -- one invisible to most Americans.

But once you notice, and we have just reached a critical tipping point, you no longer wonder where our democracy deficit originates from. It is the greatest threat to our freedom of speech. Their watchdogs prowl every book on this website! You can tell who they are by their utter lack of discourse in their responses. They never address any of the claims, but always fall back on character assassination. Do an empirical study for yourself. Go check out any volatile books that are deserving of merit, but happen to have a dissenting point of view, you will those same voices.

But it unraveling as we speak. Watch the news to see how this scandal is hitting Washington right now like a truck. Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice are implicated in a wide conspiracy that is really going to be something to watch. The next move is to push Obama out of office through a "grassroots" movement that will create a new middle-of-the-road third party.

Of course this will all seem to come out of our own soil, from our own intrinsic wants, our desperation to stop the gridlock in congress. But it will be just another way to co-opt the next paradigm, to dress it up in our mantle. They will then throw on a good coat of paint in our own red, white, and blue as they blare it out through the corporate media. Especially Fox.

This very powerful special interest saturates our media and economic state. If you are wondering what happened to the news. Not of all of it is "fit to print" for this very undemocratic theocracy.

Shame, shame! This book is simple a post-modern reincarnation of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Some people just do not have something better to do than to recycle the old anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. But now they call themselves "scholars" See also The Synagogue of Satan A good company!
