We buy food items when they are on sale. Some good examples are strawberries, hamburger or sausage. We then prepare it and then portion it into sizes for 2 or 3 people. If you need more because you have company, just use 2 or 3 bags. We actually use a scale to make each bag the same weight. Then we tightly seal each bag and make sure that we eliminate as much air as possible. On certain items like the meats we then put the quart bags into larger gallon bags to double seal and eliminate freezer burn. We also drain the meats as thoroughly as possible.
We then have fresh frozen berries all year long at reasonable prices. We also have precooked hamburger or sausage for spaghetti, gravy, casseroles or many other dishes like pizza. It takes about ˝ the time to prepare a meal. When you buy these items on sale you can save over 50% of the price and you can save a lot of time when you are in a hurry to prepare a quick meal. You can also enjoy your favorite fruits yearlong even when they are out of season and made the way you like them.
A good example is that my wife just put 15 quarts of fresh strawberries in the freezer that cost only $1.00 a quart. Clean them and cut them and add some Splenda® or sugar and you are ready for a nice topping to a dessert or just a bowl of strawberries!
I forgot to mention that we also rewrap and portion larger packs of pork chops, steaks and other meats that we purchase on sale into two person portions in order to get the best price and avoid waste.

Once you use the double zippered bags you won't go back to slider or single zip

I got tired of messing with the single zippered bags when I had to go in and out of a bag often. So, I got some ziplocs with the slider. The sliders break after only two uses, block the entrance width, and were too pricey. So, when I saw these double zippered bags, I gave them a try. I can lay them on the counter and easily slide my finger across without futzing around, could tell when the thing was actually sealed, and I can get my stuff in through the entire opening. And the double zipper keeps working unlike the previous two styles.
I rewash freezer bags and use them several times so I really tested these guys before buying the 216 pack.
Once I used these double zippered ziploc bags, I didn't look back.

I use a lot of freezer bags and was so happy to see this bulk pack on Amazon. It beat the price of a similar bulk pack at a discount store. The quality of these bags is great as well. The zipper lock makes it fairly easy to push air out, although the zipper also makes the opening a slight bit more narrow than non-zipper style bags tend to be. Very good product overall.
