This is a great product. I use it for a ton of food storage applications and for when we buy in bulk and to store game for the entire year after hunting and fishing season so we can enjoy fresh wild game all year round. I also use the machine to protect valuables when traveling (i.e. I sealed my passport, hunting and fishing licenses, boat registration, ammunition, survival gear, etc.).

What is really cool is that on a recent elk hunting trip in the Colorado Rockies I used this system before the trip to seal chili, smoked sausages, grilled and BBQ ribs. I then froze these cooked "meals in a bag" and when we were in camp all I had to do was bring a kettle of water to a boil and then I simmered the bags in the water until mess to deal with or food to cook, just reheat in the bag, cut the bag open and serve and it was awesome to actually have BBQ ribs at 10,000ft with a foot of snow on the ground around our tent. You can seal liquids like chili or ribs with BBQ sauce in this particular machine vs. other brands as someone was using their brain and included a "PULSE" feature whereby you can actually control vacuum manually and stop vacuuming just before the liquid starts getting sucked-up, you then press the seal button and now you can freeze and reheat by just simmering in a pot of water.

I already bought a few of these for gifts. Buy one and you will use it for everything. I am still finding cool uses outside of the obvious food storage.

I have wanted a food sealer for a while and I'm so happy with this one. I trust the Ziploc name and the unit was affordable. I read the directions and had no problems. I read some reviews on the internet and some people seemed to have a problem getting the unit to seal. I thought it was extremely easy. I used the three bags that came with the unit and started making my own bags with the Ziploc rolls. Super easy. Just make sure you read the directions. After putting your food in the bag make sure you have cleaned the inside of the bag so its dry and free from food so it will get a good seal. I love the vacuum seal - food will stay fresh longer and taste better. The vacuum seal also makes the bags as small as possible so you can fit more in your freezer. I am so happy with my purchase and cannot say enough about this product. I would definitely recommend buying.

I purchased this after reading the reviews here on Amazon for several different models from different manufacturers after returning a $190.00 fancy version I picked up at Costco. I returned it unopened after thinking that I had spent too much. Still needing (more wanting) one I came back here, read the reviews, and bought this model. I also purchased 11" X 16" and 8" X 12" pre-cut pouches since they are cheaper (to me) than by roll. Try measuring per foot vs. pre-cut by length and compare prices and you will probably come to the same conclusion.

The first few attempts using the vacuum sealer were hit and miss so I figured the machine was not so great. It would sometimes vacuum excellently and then at some times the vacuum half arsed. The seal has always been perfect. It turns out that the problem was me. I realized I needed to make sure the vacuum nozzle was inside the lips of the bag before doing the seal. Apparently on my misses the nozzle ended up slipping out from between the lips of the bag. I am amazed at the vacuum that this model generates when it is used properly. I have not tried the bottle vacuum attachment since we have no need for that. A very good vacuum is created and the sealer works properly. I have had no problems with this other than user error and am very happy with this purchase. I'm also glad I got the large and medium sized bags in lots of 100. I found that I got more pre-sealed bags for my buck than I could by any roll. I am also able to make smaller pouches by subdividing the individual pouches.

Back to the rating...for the price and after knowing how well this operates I do not hesitate to recommend this unit. Why pay 2 to 4 times more for something that does the same, or maybe even worse than this inexpensive but fully capable vacuum sealer.

My trusty Foodsaver sealer died. For the most part, I make a few seals a month but used the accessory port often to vacuum seal containers and bottles. This unit was inexpensive and has the same features as my old Foodsaver. So far, it has proved to be a worthy successor--especially since many Foodsaver models have gone up in price.

1-Bag sealing. For the rolls, I keep these in a drawer and cut them to size with a scissors. You then make an instant seal on one end. Nothing new here. I don't mind not having a separate storage area for the roll or a cutter built in since I don't do it very often.

2-Accessory port. All of my accessories are Foodsavers. The port is a little smaller on these. What I did was cut the Ziploc accessory hose in have. I can then attach the cut end to the Foodsaver accessory hose.

3-Manual vacuum. This feature is way neat and something not found on my old Foodsaver. You can press it to get the right amount of vacuum--sometimes too much draws all the liquid out of your food. This button allows you to control the amount of vacuum. Just press down until you get the desired vacuum and then press instant seal. After you let go of the button, the vacuum does not release (but does stop sucking) until a few seconds have passed--plenty of time for you to decide if you want to suck some more or press the seal button. Definitely a worthwhile feature.
