Ziploc and Reynolds bags are interchangeable,
This review is from: Ziploc Vacuum Pump Refill Bags, Quart Size, 12 Count (Kitchen)
I have both Reynold's HandiVac and Ziploc's pumps and have used both Reynold's and Ziploc bags with each pump. Both brand of bags work equally well with either pump.
Reynold's HandVac pump is much easier to use since it is battery operated but I've heard that they are discontinuing it. Now FoodSaver has started making their own handheld pump and bags. It cost 4 times as much as the Reynold's did, but it is rechargeable.

Don't waste your money,
This review is from: Ziploc Vacuum Pump Refill Bags, Quart Size, 12 Count (Kitchen)
The Zip Lock bags are a joke. So is the sealer. I have a Reynolds Handi-Vac and love it. When I freeze berries in them, it is almost impossible to get the bags clean once I thaw the bag. To my dismay, the replacement bags are no longer available. I tried those made by Zip Lock because they are supposed to work just as well. They don't. Almost impossible to get a tight seal and then it leaks air so food does not stay air-tight. Now that I am unable to purchase additional bags, I'll have to purchase the Reynold's electric one. I bought one of those for my daughter and son-in-law as a gift and they say it is wonderful. I'll keep my old battery powered one along with the few bags I have until I cannot use them anymore. Now I wish I hadn't used so many of my bags to seal gifts I was mailing. I don't regret those that went to Iraq as they kept even sand out of items for my grandson but those that were mailed to U.S. destinations could have been in regular bags with the air squeezed out. Don't waste your money.

Do not work as a substitue for Reynolds bags,

I couldn't tell you if the Zip Lock bags will leak, because I can't even get my Reynolds battery powered pump to remove the air from the Zip Lock bags. I have tried everything, but they will not work. What a waste of time and money. And Reynolds, thanks for selling us a good product and then abandoning your customers. I will avoid all of your products in the future.

Not Perfect, but still better than regular bag alone,

So far so good... I had one bag that seemed to lose a bit of air, so I put some tape over seal and it has held so far. You really can't beat the price on the bags and the pump itself, so I figured why not try it. I have also been able to find the pump and bags at a local store which is not the case with the other battery powered vac I show in the video. As you can see, they are pretty much comparable to each other in fuction, and an added bonus is that the Ziploc bags can be used for both items. Of course I am sure a good vacuum food sealer is better than this, but I don't need or want to spend that kind of money. I feel that even if this pump doesn't do as good a job as those machines, for the cheap price, it is still better than just putting things in a regular zip- seal bag alone. Update: I tryed to seal chicken breasts in a gallon size bag today, and I could barely get any suction going. After a few attempts, I was able to pull some air out of the bag, but not enough to make a tight seal. Again, it is still better than a regular zip-seal bag alone, but I just figured I'd add this in the interest of full disclosure.

I've never tried any other vacuum bags. Like another reviewer, I bought the pump with a couple of bags and shortly afterwards I could only find the gallon bags. I use quart bags more. Like to chop up onions, pecans, what have you, and keep in the freezer to have on hand for recipes that call for small amounts. I often have a problem getting the pump to start suctioning out the air. Seems like it happens more when I have a small amount in the bag and it's lying pretty flat where the pump is placed. But once it starts suctioning -- and it's very obvious visually -- it's a beauty to behold. I'm puzzled by complaints that the bags don't keep their seal because every bag I've stored in the freezer has come out the way it went in. I know I don't empty them within a month and they are probably in there 3-6 months at times, maybe longer. And because I can't find them on the store shelves, I have reused them as much as possible/practical. If I take out a portion of the contents, I just use the pump again to re-vacuum. I will stock up on these while I can find them because I don't use them enough to justify investing in a pricier system or taking up more space in my very small kitchen.

I bought these based on another review for a Reynolds Vacuum bag replacement as the Reynolds are no longer available. They don't even hold their seal for an hour. I use them to vacuum seal guitar strings (I buy in bulk when on sale) so they are stored at room temp. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I guess I will have to invest in a high dollar vacuum system. Its a shame cause my Reynolds pump and bags work great. Even after 2 years I'm still using the same bags, and they hold their seal for 6-9 months. Unfortunately I need more for all the different styles.

I purchased the Ziploc Vacuum bag system to replace my Handi-Vac that Reynolds abandoned. I have tried several of the bags to store small items and these bags leak off quickly. I was very dissappointed in these bags.

We loved the Reynolds Vacuum bags and pump for storing small food items, however we couldn't find the replacement bags. I finally found some on line and they wanted $59.00 for twelve bags.......... we only paid $7.99 for the pump and about a dozen bags to begin with....... then I stumbled on the Ziploc vacuum bags and tried them and they work fine........ and the cost is reasonable.. plus the Reynolds pump works with them........

As many of you have read the negative reviews, you probably said to yourself. On comon, they will work for me! Nope, these things are a total waste of money. I used them only to vacuum seal coffee. Out of about 30 bags I have used, about 3 held a vacuum. I was so shocked at this, I use them for nothing more than regular storage bags. And they are not great for that either because you cannot feel the zipper teeth as you glide your finger across. They don't hold a vacuum, enough said, move on.

Way better than expected,

I was apprehensive about trying this due to negative reviews, but for a few bucks why not. Every bag I sealed stayed sealed. Glad I purchased it. Two tips: Start sealing the bag from the corner they point to with the arrow. Also, it wasn't in the instructions, but I firmly pushed down with my thumb on the vacuum seal after I sucked the air out. For me it makes no sense to buy anything fancier.
