Here is a product that we have used ourselves. With all the many fuel injection enhancements you can add to your Harley Davidson. This one here at our shop we consider to be the best choice. Our test motorcycle was a 2007 Harley Davidson Street Glide. Having been riding for a number of years on multiple Harley models we were not overly pleased with the factory performance of the 96 cubic inch engine.First we installed a Terry components Flame Thrower EFI module. This made some running improvements. As far as adding any power being added, we observed very little if any.

We installed a set of Vance & Hines 2 into 1 pipes next for a substantial improvement. Again having ridden many big engine Harley's the power band was still flat and gradual.

We next installed a 103 inch Screaming Eagle kit for a minor power change but we knew something was still wrong with the acceleration.

Without a doubt we were ready to convert this thing to a carburetor and be done with the fuel injection.

Our last resort for performance was the best decision.Thundermax EFI. At 485.00 for a whole new ECM. Not only is it the best operating injection improvement there is. it's priced fairly as well.

Immediately this motorcycle had the powerband we knew it should have had. This we before we did further tuning.

We will admit that the Wide band power commander is a good second choice. At the same time our thoughts are related to your return on investment. We wouldn't consider spending what the power commander costs, simply because it still uses the factory EFI module. The Thundermax is a complete replacement EFI module.

We do have the Auto Tune option on this 2007 but we have used the module alone on multiple configurations with the same positive results.

I was looking through the forums and saw Amazon sells one of these units, but there wasn't much in the way of reviews. I've had mine since early 2008 on a FLHTC and really, really like it. "Back in the day" it was cheaper than the current model, but pretty much same thing. Difference between then and now... much more tech support and some neat additions to the program.

Tired of having to go to a dealer to make any changes to your bike's performance? This unit will allow you to adjust your fuel/ air ratio to run at the optimum mixture, and will also allow you to set other parameters in place like temperature alarm, idle, timing, etc if you want to play with the program. It has base maps for a ton of different set-ups (engine size, cam, pipes, etc) that you can load to get the system very close, and then the part that's very sweet, the Autotune will get your bike that much closer to perfect operating condition.

Be aware, you put this on before your warranty is up, there's a chance your dealer will deny any claims involving your motor. Suggest talking with the Service Manager at your dealer, a lot are aware of T-Max, but the problem may come from the bike builder who the dealer has to notify of vehicle repairs under warranty. It's like anything else; you "play" with OEM stuff on any vehicle that's under warranty... it could come back and bite you.

I carry a netbook with me and the program on it in case I need/ want to fine tune it. I had one O2 sensor that went bad; I replaced it with a new one from Zippers and it runs great. May not be for everyone because of the warranty thing, but the ability to adjust different parameters in your bike's performance is a nice thing to have if you want to.

I bought this bike used two years ago and after suffering with the fuel injection surges and non rideablity i finally bit the bullet and purchased the thundermax installed for 795.00 . what a difference. low speed surges are gone and the bike runs like it's suppose too. the power band is oh so smooth and quick, gas mileage has improved a little but the rideability is what counts.

I've had this from when they first came out. Upgraded to Gen 2 when it came out.
Without a doubt best mod on my 2005 Flstn. Runs great , never a problem. My race tuner is sitting in my garage.

Very happy and satisfied with this product after easy install and loved the auto tune feature which was a positive buying point for me. Originally had a power commander w/o auto tune.

This is one of the best tuners that can be used. If you are needing to dyno your bike?, then save the money and put it towards the purchase of this tuner. The price of one dyno is half the purchase price. And once you get it installed, which is easier than you think, it will auto tune the bike and never need to have dyno again. No matter what changes you make to the accessories such as air cleaner, exhaust, cams, anything just change the base maps and let it do the work for you. Absolutely love it, my bike was crackling on deceleration and back firing. Now it has more power, better acceleration, and no more back firing or crackling on deceleration. Best purchase I have made yet, and any new bikes I get this will be the first purchase I make.

I have a 2009 superglide. I feel the Thundermax was a poor choice. The bike runs worse than it did without it. I sent the tuner back to Thundermax and they replaced the circuit board in it and changed the map to accommodate the new cam. Now the bike runs so rich my pipes are black and everyone complains riding behind me. So I email ThunderMax back because no one answers phones there and they have me plug into the bike and send the data. Once they get the data and again email me I am told that the data makes no sense based on what is on the bike. If you drag race your bike ThunderMax is probably for you. If not go with a Dynojet of Vance and Hines fuel pack.
