This is a good quality lighter.

It's a little hard to operate, buttons are difficult to push and button position is a bit awkward.

I received the Zippo utility lighter today. I was very curious about it because of the "mixed" reviews. I believe this is a great utility lighter. Its sturdy & well made. I believe it will last a long time. Also, with all Zippo lighters it comes with a Lifetime guarantee. So you really can't go wrong with that. Some reviewers have stated that the lighter is difficult to operate, even some say impossible. I have no issue whatsoever operating this lighter. You simply press both buttons and it lights,,, everytime. Some have also said its not wind resistant. To the contrary, it is VERY wind resistant. I lit it and shook it back and forth like an excited dogs tail, and the lighter stayed lit. I don't forsee any problem lighting this in wind gusts. If I do run into any problems with it, I will update the review. This will be a perfect lighter for lighting my grill, campfire etc (which means practically every day). I saw a video review on this lighter before I purchased it. In that review it also had a cap, mine does not have a cap. I don't know if thats a good thing or bad thing :) That one also came with a caribiner, mine just has a split ring, which is fine.

This lighter is a high quality dual-flame butane lighter. It's refillable. It's solid and has a good weighty feel to it. The appearance of the lighter is great which is why I ended up purchasing the lighter.

Pros:
1. Solid construction and good styling (this is personal opinion, of course)
2. Dual flame
3. Wind-proof technology (there's an element that heats up in the flame so you can wave it about while lit and it won't go out).
4. It's refillable and has a pretty good size fuel cell.

However, there are some major negatives to it:
1. It is way too short to light anything you're going to be using outdoors (grill, fireplace, etc.) especially if you are using an accelerant (lighter fuel). While the overall length of the lighter is 8 inches, the length from your fingers to the tip of the lighter is only 4 inches, which is much shorter than your typical outdoor utility lighter. 4" is just not enough to keep your fingers out of harm's way when it comes to lighting such a fire.
2. The safety mechanism is pretty kludgy. You have to depress two separate buttons, making sure the safety side is depressed first. It can be tricky. Using two hands it's pretty easy, but who wants to even think of using two hands for something like this?

Overall, it's a fun item, but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you strongly consider the pros and cons personally and decide it's worth it. If they revise it and add another 3-4" or more to the business end, it would increase the usefulness by 100%

this is without question THE worst supposed fireplace lighter around. to turn this lighter on, it has two buttons that are awkwardly positioned and extremely difficult to push. the flame is small, even when using the dial to make it larger, the change is insignificant.
the warning should be, 'do not buy', matches are more functional than this lighter.

This is an OK product. Reach is limited due to the relatively short wand. The flame adjustment works well and flame length is reasonable on high and stayed lit on low. Obviously it is likely to go out on low if there is any wind. Lighting it using the two switches was easy for me, but I am well coordinated. If you know you have coordination issues or any issues with the dexterity of your fingers then this is probably not the lighter for you.

The fuel window is a joke and that is why this lighter receives only four stars. A large warning label covers one of the two windows, making the fuel level hard to see. Removing it is difficult and it is easier to just cut out the section over the second side fuel window. BUT, even after you do that the windows are still too dark to read because the control rod that goes from the fuel adjustment knob at the bottom of the lighter runs right up the middle and between the two windows, so even with the label removed it is still almost impossible to see how much fuel is in the lighter. I would deduct even more for that but I can just top off the lighter before using it extensively, such as when camping, and it should be good for the entire event as it appears to hold a lot of fuel.

I got my OUL...back in 2008 and I have yet to have any problems w/it....The rubber grips are a bit worn-out but over all....Has to be the best lighter I'v ever bought...even thou I bought mine when the product was still fairly new....so i paid way to much for it $36....lol...but that was my fault for being a gadget guru...lol...but really its a very reliable product...extremely well built...and I know many say the buttons are awkward but if it helps to keep the kids from turn'g it on...i'm ok w/it....I'v a happy camper w/this product over all.

I bought this lighter 4 months ago
and use it daily. I can overlook/adapt
to the ergonomics. What I can't tolerate is
a mederately expensive lighter to fail so quickly.
Zippo will repair it, but you have to pay
shipping both ways, about $10. I have read other
reviews about early breakdowns and can't
recommend purchasing this lighter.
