This broke before I was even able to test it. Following directions to attach the saw blade resulted in snapping the attachment points of the cam lever to the axe shaft. Now it's just a mediocre hatchet. Many of the important bits that would have the most stress exerted on them are plastic... And this is not a cheap item. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a woodcutting multitool.

The tool itself is exactly what we wanted. However, be careful loading or installing the saw blade. If you use the wrong hole on the blade once you go to snap it closed and secure it, it will break. A little piece came flying off across the room. We wanted to return it but found out it would be back ordered. We tested it out despite the break and with some creativity were able to use it anyway. So - use caution and read the directions when loading the blade.

Used 1 trip, broke at multiple locations. You can forget about using another log/hammer to split wood. The plastic surrounding axe began to crack/splinter. Still was able to use the axe rest of trip, but it will be the last trip I take it on. Also the cam lever that holds saw blade tight broke day 3, rendering the saw useless.

This is by far the most expensive paperweight I've ever purchased.

As with any multi-tool they are a compromise tool you would have with you at the time rather than several separate tools which get left at home. This tool does a fair job at all tasks it was designed for in one convenient package but not as well as the separate tools which are specifically for their chosen tasks. It will saw 3-4 inch logs into small campfire pieces with as much effort an any other hand saw. The hatchet isn't great at splitting those campfire size logs as the blade is not really wide enough to actually split but you can get the job done and it works great for shaving wood off a log to help start your fire. The hatchet is very sharp and works better as a chopper rather than a splitter. All in all it is a good camp tool to have around and I am sure you will find many uses for it such as archers clearing a shooting lane from their stand or the garden person looking to do some trimming or pounding stakes in the garden.
My main focus of this tool was the hatchet and saw while the tent stake hammer head and stake puller will see very little or no use at all in my case. I did put some WD-40 on the saw blades stored in the hatchet handle so they won't rust because the storage area isn't waterproof or even weatherproof where most any outdoor use will eventually see water or moisture enter and rust your blades. This tool will go in my car as my truck and atv already have separate hatches/axes and saws in them. I am not sure how durable this tool will be but then it wasn't designed for constant use everyday but for the few times you may be outside without your other tools and need something like this.

The hatchet does work way better than beating on the back of you good hunting knife with another hard object to drive it through a price of wood to split it.

After reading the few reviews on this I was worried about buying it. I bought it anyway and am very happy with it. It comes with 2 saw blades so I'm happy about having an extra blade. The saw works perfectly like you would want it to as does the mallet. The hatchet is sharp and works well for spliting kindling but isn't good for spliting wood as it has no taper in the blade. I wish the "woodsman" was made in USA like zippos lighters are but as a whole I like this hatchet.

Would be ok for limited emergency use but not for a lot of chopping. The clip on the end of the handle makes it impossible to hold it there, handle is also too short for 2 handed use. Saw functions ok, but you would not be able cut large material. I plan to leave mine in the vehicle.

latch or clamp in handle - very uncomfortable when using 4-in-1 Woodsman as an axe. If move your hand off of it the latch opens after multiple strikes - nice idea but they need to do a version 2 on this or simply buy yourself two different tools.

We used this on a winter camping trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), during one of the coldest weekends of the year in Northern Minnesota. The design is intriguing, and I purchased the item because I liked the idea of having a hatchet and saw combination. However, there are a couple of realities in winter camping that render these nifty engineering ideas useless:

1) It's cold up there. Really cold. We hit -32 (f). The orange plastic cover doesn't do well in that environment.
2) It's cold up there. Really cold. Trying to unscrew and screw the plastic cover knob with or without mittens is nearly impossible.

I realize that I've tried this product in extreme conditions, and perhaps that means I have given it an unfair rating. I can see using this for summer camping. When I was actually able to use the tool, the hatchet seemed to work pretty well, as did the saw itself. We were working with dry and frozen wood, and were able to break things down effectively.

For winter camping, however, I think that I'll be going with a cheaper option, where the axe and saw are two separate pieces.
