It's Windproof, by the way,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Got one for Christmas.. works well, though it does require a little effort to hit the 2 buttons in sequence to get it lit. I got it down but my wife hates that part, which probably makes it child and accident-proof.
The instructions mention that this is a windproof lighter.. at least if you keep blowing it out it will relight. That doesn't mean it will stay lit in high winds, but it will relight when the wind dies down as long as you are still holding the buttons. The windproof-effect has something to do with 2 flame outlets.. the main orifice has a small glowing grille, next to it is a tiny hole where another flame comes out. The flame itself is not a jet but like that of a candle. The built-in LED light works OK and the button for that is easy to operate. The black rubber handle only seems to add bulk, but it won't slip out of your hands. The carabiner clip is probably useful. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the double-button push required to light.

This review is from: Zippo Outdoor Utility Lighter (OUL) (Sports)
My Mother bought this for me as a Christmas present and I was dissapointed with it right away. It would only light about half the time. And even with the flame adjustment set all the way to the plus side, would produce only a weak flame of less than a half inch. It was far from windproof. You could blow it out as easily as a birthday candle. I filled it all the way up with fluid, but no change. I then read some of these reviews and did a little more thorough investigation of the product. Here are three tips you might find useful:
1) As one other reviewed noted, remove the warning label. There is a second fuel level window under it. Note that it will not come off without a fight. With the label removed it is much easier to see the fluid level, especially when you hold it up to the light. 2) Adjusting the flame height: Remove the two small phillips screws from the end opposite the flame (the ones which hold the black piece with the "+" and "-" markings). Once the screws are out, remove this black cover, then remove the knurled knob underneath of it. Now you can adjust the flame properly. When all the way open it will produce about a 3 inch flame. I adjusted mine down to about an inch and a half. This is a much more windproof flame. 3) Defeat the "child resistant" mechanism: Unscrew four small phillips screws, two on each side of the rubber grip. Once both parts of the grip are removed, take a piece of thin plastic that has some ridgity to it and cut to fit over "index finger" button. I cut up an old plastic blister pack that some woodscrews had come in. Replace both pieces of the rubber grip and the plastic insert will keep the finger button depressed. Now, I would have expected something this expensive and from a company like Zippo to already have the flame height adjusted correctly. Or at least to have some instructions regarding how to do this. There were NO instructions of any type in the package. My other beef is that even with the flame adjusted, you normally have to click twice to get it to light. Even with my modifications, I can only give this product 3 stars.
