Daughter loves her Iteddy,

It worked right out of the box. I downloaded the software, converted some video, and music and loaded it onto the player. Easy and simple to use. I just wish we had access to the British website for downloads and cartoons as the American site is terrible. My two year old daughter loves her new bear and the videos she can watch on it.

We bought this a little hesitantly for our 6 year old son. We have intentionally held him back a bit from "Media". He is exposed to Elem. kids having iPods and Phones, and the like - and we'd like him to still be a kid.So when we saw the rating of 3+ above - we almost worried we'd been wrong to keep him away from technology! But not at all. He loves it. It took us a bit to figure out how to download. The instructions do not give it out correctly - so there is a review from a purchaser who is frustrated. Can see why. Once I 'got it' - it is very simple. Wish I teach you because then I'm sure your daughter would love it. Our 2+ year old loves to watch it - but of course - cannot figure out how to use it. Either way = glad we did. Nice easy introduction for our 6 year old about Downloads (once we figured it out) and the difference between videos, audios, etc. It is also a lesson in 'finance' as he has to use his money to purchase the downloads. It is also a Huge Hit with the other kids that have even more Sophisticated 'toys', because at the end of the day - they are still little and who doesn't love a Teddy!

We bought this for our son and the first one broke after a couple of months of very light wear. We bought another one and it also broke the same way - the device would no longer recognize any cord when plugged into the auxiliary jack. This was too bad because our son loved it. We also had trouble adding new things to the mp3 player, it would not read our pictures, some music, or any videos. My son really liked the videos that came on it though.

Update to my review below. After 6 months, it's not working any more. I recharged it and the screen showed it was fully charged. But then I couldn't turn it off or on w/o having to use the reset button. The next day when I turned it on, it showed the low battery signal and turned off.********************************************************************************************** This teddy is so cool. My son loves it so much more than I thought he would-I almost didn't buy it and am so glad that I did. The one thing I wanted to know most before buying this product was the dimensions of the screen. I ended up making the purchase w/o knowing, so I just want to share that it's about 1 inch X 1.5 inches. The resolution is good for the price/use of the bear. Iteddy only comes with 2 games. My 5 year old can't really understand how to play them. The manufacturer recommended age is listed as 10 years and up but the product description notes that it's for 3+. I don't know how much fun a 10+ would have with this, but my 5 year old adores it. What I read online regarding the expandable memory is that once you insert the memory card, only the data from the memory card is read which means the internal memory is no longer accessible -- You'd have to remove your memory card to access the internal memory. Contrary to this, I found that if I put only video files in the memory card, the other non-video file types (pictures, music) are still accessible even though they are located in the internal memory. The max you can "add" to the iteddy is 2 GB. I wish it allowed for more. The internal memory is only 512MB. The simple converter software mentioned in the product description needs to be downloaded from the iteddy website, it does not come with the package. The software is as user-friendly as they come. One last thing I love about this product is that it re-charges through the usb port connection to your computer. Ease of use overall is 5*s and it's also super huggable!

My 1 yr old son get his iteddy for his birthday, and we put on his favorite songs on it. He cares it everywhere and is always listening to it. We will even put it in his crib at night and play lullabies for him. Even though it is recommended for children 3+ my 1yr old love it and I am sure that he will grow into the movies and game once he is a little older.

Found this on clearance at Target for great bargain price! Immediately added a 2gb card once got home. The player console can be removed from Bear's belly to access the screw case cover that secures the sd card slot. I like this screw covered case over the sd slot since my 3 year old niece removed a 2gb sd card that has been M.I.A. for months now from another kids player (not iteddy). The menu functions and interface are slightly slow/laggy for my taste but get the job done (I think kids are more patient than us adults with laggy interfaces). I had no problems downloading data to the bear and to the sd card docked in the bear. Note that once the SD card is inserted, music and video on the Bear's internal memory is not accessible as the SD card takes precedent. I use the 500+mb bear's internal memory to store photos but transfer music and video on the SD which works nicely. I already had my cd's ripped with windows media player so just dragged and dropped to the bear's drives (bear and sd card slot show as 2 separate drives in windows media player). So... I didn't even use the iteddy music converter for the cd's. Be aware of the bitrate that you transfer audio if using media player as you can fill up 2GB pretty quickly if you use larger/high quality audio file. My daughter and niece love it as they now have their own little mp3 player with all tunes that they love loaded. I wish there was a way for the music menu to show albums instead of just a long list of tracks/songs but then again it is a cheap player and kids have figured it out enough. Works with headphones (not included) but comes with Left side and Right side speakers on the player console (bear's belly) that produces suitable volume and sound quality for kids (not great but quite decent in my opinion). The plug adapter on front/on bear's belly is multipurpose for headphones, audio out and also for connecting to the USB data/charger ( USB cable/charger is included with the bear). The battery lasts a decent amount of time throughout the day but I am a bit worried how long before this built in rechargeable battery will be worthless...I wish it took regular batteries. There are some screws in the back of the unit and In opened up to see the guts of the unit. There is a 900mah rechargeable lithium battery pack that has to be to some extent replaceable...but not readily available to purchase. There may be some way to figure out replacement batteries but I have yet to find out. Bear's website site has a free dvd ripper program that is bare bones & takes a while but has done it's job to convert dvd to .amv files & get some cartoon dvds to the bear. Also has a downloadable pdf instruction sheet that is a bit more detailed than included in the box. For the price, I am very pleased! Photos, music with speakers, 2 games (not really worth mentioning the games though as they are not good according to my daughter), plus expandable memory adds 2gb with the sd card slot! All wrapped in a teddy bear fluff package to protect it all and make it nicely portable. Not bad at all, especially if on sale!

My 8-year-old bought this with her own money -- thought it would be fun to put songs and videos on it. We have been trying for two weeks get the download software to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software many times, traded numerous emails with the company, and have been sent new software to try. (There is little online support or trouble shooting -- you have to email the company to get questions answered. See their 1-page website; what a joke.) Then, I bought another, thinking maybe I got a lemon. That one doesn't work either! So, now my daughter has two $[...] teddy bears that play a couple of pre-loaded toddler songs. Both will be returned for a refund if I don't run them over with my car first. My daughter is mad; I am madder. I wish I would have read reviews before we spent the money and a too much time on it.

I didn't buy the product... I drove to Target to take a look at it in person and didn't buy it because the box says that the product is for ages 3 and up and shows very little kids playing with it on the box. I'm mentioning this because the Amazon site says that this product is for ages 10 and up - that's wrong.*** - this site will not let you leave a review without rating the item using the stars... I chose 3 stars (in the middle) because I know nothing about the actual quality of the product |
