5.0 out of 5 stars A carefully-researched and entertaining work
I came to this book as a true crime fan with an amateur interest in astrology, and I thought it was fascinating. It contains profiles of the lives and charts of 51 killers, some widely-discussed, like Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers, and others lesser-known. The astrology has been edited for the general reader, but appears to have been meticulously...

I was VERY disappointed in this book. I found it in the Astrology section, and had hoped to find information that will help in recognizing the charts of people who have the potential for violence. Instead, I found a book that was shallow in the extreme. There was very little on any of these cases to explain the pattern of energies. The greatest value in the book...

2.0 out of 5 stars Zodiac of Death, January 30, 2000

I was VERY disappointed in this book. I found it in the Astrology section, and had hoped to find information that will help in recognizing the charts of people who have the potential for violence. Instead, I found a book that was shallow in the extreme. There was very little on any of these cases to explain the pattern of energies. The greatest value in the book was the birth data. Using this, the astrologer can construct the chart and do his own deliniation.

I came to this book as a true crime fan with an amateur interest in astrology, and I thought it was fascinating. It contains profiles of the lives and charts of 51 killers, some widely-discussed, like Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers, and others lesser-known. The astrology has been edited for the general reader, but appears to have been meticulously researched. For example, the authors profile only those individuals for whom they have obtained the exact time of birth, and the actual charts are included, both of which set this book apart from much popular astrology I've seen. The astrological conclusions are consistent with the school of astrology with which I am familiar. It's a real page-turner, and exceptionally well-written.

5.0 out of 5 stars An authoritative introduction to the astrology of crime, April 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Zodiac of Death (Paperback)
This is an excellent, well-written guide for the lay-person who wishes to explore criminal signatures in the horoscope. Each profile is split into two sections: a factual account of the crime and biography of the criminal; and a knowledgeable summary of astrological factors. Very often amateur astrologers get bogged down with too much detail whilst looking for criminal astrological signatures - this book is obviously based on a great deal of research and manages to pinpoint the important elements. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Simplistic, October 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Zodiac of Death (Paperback)
I find it very painful reading. First off, the interpretations of the charts are very run of the mill. The authors do not take time to explain the aspects fully and they tend to gloss over them in a hurried way. Also according to them, the fourth house rules the father and the tenth rules the mother. That is backward. Most readers who know even a little about astrology know that the opposite is true. This book was obviously made for money- and unfortunately, the authors got mine. A much better read is "Destined for Murder" Profiles of Six Serial Killers, by Sandra Harrisson Young w/ astrological commentary by Edna Rowland. This book is much shorter, yet it is better researched, more concise and the data is more accurate. They go beyond the usual "aspects" and have opened my eyes to midpoints and other factors that I might never have considered before.

2.0 out of 5 stars True Crime, Yes... Astrology, No, November 25, 2004

I, like most of the other readers, found this book to be far too simplistic in its 'attempt' at astrologically profiling violence... I am especially disappointed in the editor's obvious failure to know anything of astrology, else they would have sent this back to Dana Holliday as a 'first draft' in astrological interpretation and explanation... However, I WAS pleased to find in the appendix that Dana uses the tool of Astrodynes to chart the 'power' of the planets, signs, and houses in his/her delineations... As a biography of the criminals, Don Lasseter delivers a well-written, albeit brief, synopsis of these folk- their childhood history, heinous doings, and subsequent fate upon capture... Alas, I purchased the book for the 'astrology' part of it and was, in a word, left wanting... I am hopeful for a future work by Dana Holliday that discusses more intensely, and intricately, the in-depth energetic patterns of violence in astro-charting, as I do believe Dana possesses the interest and fascination for astro-psychopathology... All in all, I would have to say that this book, astrologically speaking, only serves to whet one's appetite, all-the-more, for the serious, studious, and literate consideration this 'darker side of life' is entitled to receive...

1.0 out of 5 stars Zodiac of Death not an Astrology Book, April 26, 2000
This review is from: Zodiac of Death (Paperback)
I was horribly disappointed in what I had hoped would give some insight into the behavior patterns of violent personalities. This book belongs in True Crime or some other area -- NOT in Astrology!
