My X7 not only could not clean the whole pool it was broken down more times than a new product should be. It has no moving parts but the parts that are there tend to break very easy with a HIGH cost of repair for Plastic and rubber. One small plastic clip cost me $40. Now the diaphragm has split and I hate to see what that is gong to cost.

The X7 pushed the dirt around more than it picked it up and would not travel the whole pool no mater how I adjusted the weight, hose, pressure, etc. I had to tie a rope to it to guide it manually.

It has been only a few months and I am looking to go back to a Hayward. It only broke down every 2 years and now I know the cost was less over a 2 year period to fix it.

UPDATE 6 months of use: the X7 will now cost me more to keep it running than to buy a Hayward Ultra 2025CS. ALL the parts are rotten, cracked, leaking and it never did clean the pool without me guiding it with a rope from the side.

UPDATE 1 year and I am back to the Hayward and the Baracuda is in the trash. Now my pool is clean again.

I got my baracuda x7 after my old polaris 140 finally failed. Main problem with this cleaner is that it's getting stuck on my permanent steps every 20 min. I tried everything that they suggest in troubleshooting section and everything I could think of. I changed lenth of the hose, position of the weight, flow, direction of flow of returns- still no result. I think that if rubber they made it from was more rigid it could prevent this problem. At this point I have no choice but return it.

I bought this piece of junk after my Kreepy Krualy, five plus years old, needed to be replced.

From the first moment I put this in the pool, what a disaster. Did not clean but 1/10 of the pool. That 1/10 was clean, but the rest of the pool stayed dirty unless I cleaned it manually or moved the cleaner around the pool.

I spent more time messing with this piece of plastic than it is worth. I have had multiple pieces break on this unit. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against this product.

I recently purchased a new Kreepy Krauly. It cleaned more in 8 hours than the Baracuda did in one year.

Please stay away from this product unless you like pouring money down the drain and enjoy being frustrated.

Note: This is the same review i contributed as another Cuda Type cleaner
As a pool service professional I must warn you about "Cudas". This version I've not yet seen in a pool but the "G" Series are JUNK! If you NEED a suction cleaner, get either a Pentair Kreepy Krauly, a Hayward NaviGator or a Poolvergnugen The Pool Cleaner-in that order.I prefer the Kreepy Krauly by far as it only has one moving part and only two wearing parts. Of course first and foremost, follow the advice and council of your pool professional.

This is a finicky cleaner. Yes, if you set the pressure correctly and length of the hose and set the jets you can get this to fully cover the pool, but it still spends most of the time in the deep end. Plus with the low pressure needed to get full coverage some debris gets pushed around instead of getting vacuumed. The biggest complaint is that I have a tree that drops 1/4" berries in the pool. These berries get stuck in the diaphragm and the cleaner stops moving. So to avoid clearing the diaphragm every 15 minutes, every morning before the pump starts I clean the pool of these berries and the cleaner works.

I was a somewhat happy owner of the Barracuda G4 (nothing to compare it to). The G4 did what we wanted it too, kept the pool clean with a minimum of fuss. Occasionally we had to direct it a little bit and we did have to replace the diaphragm once. We got a few years out of the G4 and when we decided to get a new one thought we would go with the newer model, this X7.

WHAT A MISTAKE!

Less than 6 months we've had this thing. The pivoting connector that is integral to the vacuum and is meant to be long lasting has split (a couple months ago). We've been using duct tape with some small degree of success. The main problem is that it doesn't make it around the whole pool and continually gets stuck in a couple places, regardless of where we place the little weight and regardless of which skimmer we attach it to. This week, one of the plastic wings dropped off.

This is the first review I've ever posted on Amazon. I felt compelled to post a review so others don't make the same mistake we did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!! It's a waste of money.

After one season, in which the X7 really failed to perform well, we'll be looking for a new automatic pool cleaner rather than investing any more money in this one.

I had an easy time setting this up and I am a stickler for following instructions to the letter. I was very pleased when it started chugging around the pool and sucking up all that was in it's path. I am thrilled with how it climbs the walls - the slopes and the vertical walls alike. I have not had any problems with it getting stuck on the stairs. It just goes around them and doesn't clean them so I just brush them and that's that. I had a little trouble with it cleaning the shallow end. I simply took several sections out of the hose and plugged it into the skimmer in the shallow end of the pool and that made all the difference. It is amazing at how clear my pool water has been since I bought the X7. It has been a very hot summer and I have had no issues with algae. This is the easiest summer I have had with my pool in over 20 years.
