This system costs more than anything you will find at your local big-box store. The price you are paying is well worth it when you understand that what stands behind the pump is one of the most dependable names in water pump systems.

I bought this setup in July of 2010 to replace the previous homeowner's cheapo pedestal pump, and it has been running strong ever since. The spring melt in my area is extremely damp, and coupled with a few heavy rains, the flow into my sump's basin is enough to scare even the most hardened manly-man. A poor sump pump spells doom for your basement and possessions if you have anything of value down there.

The M53 pump runs strong and on demand. It is quiet while still being powerful. The only downside to its stock assembly was I had to change the switch float to a more "lenient" float setup, otherwise my pump would run much more than really necessary. (This add-on float switch actually caused to me to prematurely test out the 507 battery backup pump. My piggy-back float positioning was poorly placed during its original setup, and it wasn't able to actuate the sump's switch due to a jam. As the water level hit my desired emergency-on point, the 507's alarm sounded and began working to empty the sump pit, and I sheepishly, yet thankful for the backup's performance, readjusted the piggy-back float I put on the M53.) On the occasions the sump pit was being surged with massive water amounts, the 1/3HP M53 has almost always kept up.

Notice I said "almost always?" Well today is the day the M53 couldn't handle all the melted snow and rain we have been overwhelmed with. Thankfully, the 507 battery backup is in this packaged system.

I have been working for roto rooter for 10 years and have installed my fair share of pumps. And Iwould have to say that I will only install there battery back ups and primary pumps. I installed a few phcc aka glentronics aka watch dog from home depot. And I will say do not waste ur money on them they are throw away pumps after 1 or 2 uses. Not to forgot how many callbacks ive got on them.

This system is plug and play. Comes fully assembled and was very easy to install. Now I have the security of a backup in case of power failure as well as primary pump failure.

Bought this baby on advice of my plumber. Installed a few months back and last rain storm power went out for 8 hours, this baby worked like a gem. Pumped water out of my sump keeping my basement from being flooded. I bought a gel battery to go with it and it wasn't even close to being out of juice. I'm pretty confident this would last for over 24 hours blackout.

Fully and correctly assembled. Quality units. Runs great. I recommend this highly. You still need to go get a battery.

The main pump works great - very powerful. However, after each cycle a considerable amount of water flows back through both the auxillary pump and the main pump. There is a check valve built into the auxillary pump, and there is a main check valve attached right above the main pump exit. I don't think either works at all. After each cycle there is a very loud gurgling sound - like a coffee maker finishing up - that goes on for 3-5 minutes. A long time. I can feel the water coming back down the PVC pipe. And based on the pit water levels immediately before and after each cycle, I'd estimate about 20% of the water that just got pumped out returns back into the pit. Amazon did a great job of shipping me another, no questions asked. I'll update this review when I install the replacement.
UPDATE: Installed the replacment Amazon sent but it has the same problem - water gurgling out of the auxillary pump. Even so I completed the installation of the charger and battery. The charger topped off the new battery and showed all the proper light indications. Using just the battery the auxillary pump did a nice job of moving the water out in a test run. However, in the morning the charger displayed a blinking red light indicating no AC power. I double-checked the outlets and they are all working. The charger just failed.

I was very impressed with this package, it was fully assembled making it a breeze to setup. I basically just cut the PVC pipe and slid it in my pit. It sealed seamlessly with the rubber coupling and clamps. After purchasing a battery, I was able to get the backup working in minutes. Fortunately, I have not had to test the pump without power but all indicators are green right now. I have friends that are professional plumbers and they were impressed with the setup and Zoeller name. It is the same product many of them use for their quotes. So far I am VERY happy.

Received the order on time and it was easy to install. Unit looks well built and durable and much better than the pedestal type backup system I had before. The only thing is to recommend that the instructions should emphasize the fact that the tilted backup pump is by design. I had to double-check the picture on the box to confirm that tete was no need to straighten the pump.
