The best series in the whole world starts with this great book.

Zoey Passmore is one of the Chatham Island teenagers that grew up on this secluded island off the coast of Maine. She's the girlfriend of Jake and the sister of Benjamin, "the blind boy". She's the best friend to Nina, who happens to be the sister to Claire, who dates Benjamin. Claire used to date Lucas, Jake's enemy, but dumped him after an accident involving him, Claire, and Wade, Jake's brother who died in the accident. Confused yet? Heh. READ THE BOOKS!

Basically, this book is one where Zoey learns that she's growing up and can't depend on her lifelong habits. She's got to strike out on her own and do her own thing. Part of that means fooling around (making out) with Lucas. Then, she has to learn if she really loves Jake or Lucas. She has to listen to her heart...and not her head or her friends.

It's an amazing book and I recommend you check it, and all the other books out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fooling Around, December 8, 1999

Picture this, a girl thats "in love"ends up messing with this one other guy that is considered "forbidden". Her "best-friend"is falling for her boy-friend. A plot that is very interesting from the begining. When Zoey ends up kissing the "forbidden"People find out and things are crazy. There was a lot of details that make you avle to connect with the characters. For me, I was able to connect with Zoey. She is a helpless romantic. All she really wants is excitement. She discovers a new person which she has known for years, but suddenly he does something wrong that would change people's point of view about him. Zoey becomes very confused about how she feels. She thinks that she is in love with Jake (her boy-friend) But then she gets these weird feelings about the "forbidden". I recomend people that are in Middle or High school to read this because it deals with how we act and react with our emotions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tsk Tsk Zoey, December 12, 1999
The book, "Zoey Fools Around" Is a begining of a great series. Believe me I've read every book. This story is all about Zoey Passmore who has a wonderful love life with her great boyfriend Jake. Then she meets Lucas who has recently come back from the YA (a jail for teenagers) and she becomes closer and closer to him. Everybody else hates Lucas including Zoey's cool best friend, Nina Geiger and Nina's sister Claire (Who was a victim of the crime Lucas commited) and everybody else Zoey is close to! What will Zoey do? This book is cool, cheap, and well, just plain well written! So go ahead, buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A teen who hates to read until..............., November 24, 2000

Ashley Anne Waters (Lakeville, Minnesota USA) - See all my reviews
Hey readers! I just read this book about a week ago and I couldn't put it down! I read it in 2 days! Now....I'm a teenager, the kind that thinks reading has to be the most boring thing ever! I used to hate reading until I found this book series! It's only been a month since I found the series and I'm on book #4! My Eniglish grade has even gone from a D+ to an A!! I'm not kidding! My parents are more surprised than I am! I recommed this book to teenagers......girls mostly since it's about love and all. It's made me cry in more than one book! If you've read the book e-mail me sometime (imsquirrley@aol.com)! I'd love to talk to someone about all the juicy stuff! Ok so about the book........The main character Zoey has this really sweet boyfriend, Jake! Well a few year back Jake's brother was killed when Wade (jake's brother), Claire, and Lucas were all drunk and Claire was driving! Wade died and Claire was hurt alittle, but Lucas was unharmed. since Lucas was at the time in love with Claire, he confessed that he was driving and was sent to a teen prison for two years, well, he comes back and Zoey falls for him.........You'll have to find out the rest in the 2nd book! That's the best part of the series! The author always, at the end of the books leaves you on a cliff hanger! It's the best!! Read the book! ~Ashley~

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoey Fools Around, March 10, 2005
I first picked up this book when i was 11. I was, and always will be very fussy about what I read and although it took me a while to get into, I loved this book.

Looking back, i think i was too you to have read this book, it deals with more mature issues such as sex and alcohol.

I am glad i read this book though as now they have become beyond impossible to find. I would reccomend it to any teenage girl. It may sound a bit trashy with a title like "Making Out" but after youread it you will know it was very a worthwhile read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy for theses books, July 2, 2001

I used to be the kind of kid who read books evey now and then. But then I started reading Ms Applegate's Animorph series and I really enjoyed reading but when I began reading the Making Out books I couldn't stop! I finised the first book in 2 days .I was so into it.At first my mom liked to see me reading but after awhile she missed me hanging with her.I was always in my room reading this book.I liked all the characters . I enjoyed reading about Aisha and Christopher and how everyone expected for them to be together because of their race.I thought that was a very interesting topic to be exposed to. I must admit that I don't really like Zoey's character. She seems to give in to temptation too easily. This book had a great plot.I also think it would be tight show. ( but people may try to compare it those teen dramas like Dawson's Creek even though these books were out before those shows) I really think those who didn't read any books from this series should. You'll be glad you did.I know I was!

I love this book. It's about Zoey Passmore falling for her boyfriends worst enemy(I can relate to that). I read this book in 3 hours because it was so good. As I got further and further into the book i found myself falling for lucas. It's a shame that he is not real!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoey Fools Around is the beginning of a great book dynasty, January 7, 2002
In the first book of the Making Out Series, you're introduced to the teenagers from a small Maine town. These teens have grown up together and are, for the most part, very close.

In this book, Zoey, who is dating Jake, kisses Lucas. (Lucas had been charged with drunk driving that ended up killing Jake's older brother.) This creates a big problem for Zoey who must choose between the "good guy" whom she is expected to be with forever or the "bad one" whom she is expected to avoid at all costs.

She might not have to tell as long as no one else finds out, but everyone at Chatham Island are bound to know because of blabbermouth, Claire.

The best two characters in this book, as in all of the books, are Nina and Ben. They add some needed comic relief.

I definitely think that if you like drama and romance, you'll love this. Also, if you like funny blind guys, you'll probably enjoy this. (You've gotta love Ben!)
