Product Description

Editorial Review

It's not quite a model, and it's not quite a toy--it's a ZOID. This snarling Liger Zero seems like a model because you need to snap it together out of the plastic pieces provided. But it's also a toy, because once you've assembled the well-armed, 8-inch-long beast, it can crawl around and snap its jaws with motorized, battery-operated action. Younger kids might be intimidated by all the construction involved, but the Liger Zero's step-by-step instructions (and the fact that you don't need any glue or special tools) help a lot. --Paul Hughes

5.0 out of 5 stars Zero rules!, September 27, 2001

This review is from: Ligor Zero (Toy)
After a long hiatus, Zoids are back in American stores! These are a "must have" for children and adults alike- model kits that you assemble yourself, then you wind them up (or in this case, put in batteries and turn it on) and watch them do their thing! Assembly for most is quite easy, they snap together and parts are held in place with rubber plugs. They can also be disassembed easily.

Liger Zero is an impressive larger sized Zoid. There are add-on body sets available in Japan which completely change the appearance of Zero, but they have not made it to the US yet. Zero has a nice color scheme and is a very fast walker when powered up. His jaw opens and closes as he walks. Also many of the body panels are hinged and positionable to make him look more streamlined or more aggressive.

Japan has been enjoying reissues of Zoids for over a year, now finally we get them too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this Zoid (if you can find one)!, December 19, 2001

The Liger Zero is easily one of the best Zoids in the new lineup. It's a guaranteed must-have for the long-time Zoid builder and first-timer alike.

The Upside:
- Very cool design, nice color scheme with the white armor components contrasting well with the black body.
- Great looking and fast walking action that looks very realistic due to the multiple articulations.
- Good molding and paint quality (at least on my example, I've heard that painting was badly done in some kits).

The Downside:
- Few weapons (just the tail-mounted laser and twin ventral cannons - unless you count jaws and claws, of course) and Hasbro hasn't released the Jager, Schneider, and Panzer armor kits yet - you could look for the original Japanese armor kits at an online store though. This is the only real sore point of the kit for me but since the Zero is SUPPOSED to be the base unit and add-on parts are available, if hard-to-find, I decided not to knock the rating down because of it.
- Feet and legs are tedious to build, but the results are well worth it.

All in all, this is definitely a Zoid to buy if you or your kids are even the least bit interested in the toys or anime series. But you better grab one (or better yet four) now `cause I know for a fact that they are flying off the shelves!

5.0 out of 5 stars Liger Zero, March 30, 2002

The Ligar Zero is a remarkable zoid. A zoid is a mechanoid fighting system that exist in a far away galaxy on Planet Zi. The ligar zero is, in my opinion the best zoid ever. It has 3 conversion units called the Jagar, Schnieder, and Panzer which have been released in Japan and are to be released some time this year in America. The liger zero jagar is equipped with 2 ion boosters, fins, and air vents that make it awesome at acceleration. The Schnieder is equipped with 7 blades that can slice a zoid in half. It is the perfect zoid for close-range combat. The Panzer is equipped with several missle arsenals and 2 hybrid cannons which make it the perfect zoid for shooting down flying zoids like the Stormsorter or Raynos. This zoid has some educational value. It is perfect for kids who love cartoons and hands-on activities. The are very fun to play with but be careful. I accidentally snapped off the wing of my Command Wolf's double barrel cannon which is the same material used to make the zoids. I suggest that if you like the zoids action figures to watch the show. The first show which is on at 6:30 AM eastern timewith a boy named Van and his zoid, the shield ligar. The second show is on at 5:00 PM eastern time on Toonami. It is about a teen named Bit Cloud and his zoid the ligar zero.
