5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps hot for hours...
The instructions say to heat the inside with hot water then to pour in your hot beverage, so as to give it a head start on keeping the beverage warm. I forgot to do this part. At 6pm I poured in 4 cups (as much as it would hold) of mulled apple cider direct from the crock pot. At 10pm, the beverage inside was still steaming hot. By 6AM this morning, the beverage was...

If it weren't for these sappy lines, it would have been a beautiful carafe! It did have an narrow mouth at the top, which would make it difficult to clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps hot for hours..., December 31, 2003
The instructions say to heat the inside with hot water then to pour in your hot beverage, so as to give it a head start on keeping the beverage warm. I forgot to do this part. At 6pm I poured in 4 cups (as much as it would hold) of mulled apple cider direct from the crock pot. At 10pm, the beverage inside was still steaming hot. By 6AM this morning, the beverage was still warm but not hot.

The pouring functionality works great, too. On the top of the handle is a push button. You push the button and a label on the lid will show either open or closed. You push the button again to change back to open/closed. When open, you just pour from the spout. It doesn't run down the side either. When closed, no liquid comes out. To pour liquid in, you just unscrew the top and pour it in. I used a measuring cup to pour it in with because the opening is rather small. You won't be able to pour in liquid directly from a pan or crock pot - it'll make a mess.

It does have a few weird rules. It says not pour in milk based products, baby food, dry ice, etc. The one that gets me here is the milk based products. I don't know why it says this, but I assume that it's because it's hard to clean out. I'm going to try it anyway though.

Cleaning - To clean, you're supposed to run warm water in it and shake it around. It has instructions on a more powerful way to clean if needed, but it's not dishwasher safe. The point is, you'll probably want to wash it out immediately after using so that the remnants of your beverage don't stick to the sides.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Tea Lovers!, February 20, 2003

I love my little airpot! I prefer loose teas rather than bags because the quality of the leaves is much better. When I used to brew a big pot of tea for myself, within an hour or two it would be stone cold, even with a tea cosy.

This thermal pot has the tea infuser built in. You put in your tea leaves, fill the pot with boiling water, let it brew, then remove the infuser. Voila! Perfectly brewed tea that stays hot for TEN hours. And I do mean HOT! Plus, the pot is attractive enough to have out on the counter.

My only complaint (and this is minor) is that the plastic tube inside the airpot gets badly stained from the tea. Not that it hurts anything, but it irritates me. Still, I highly recommended this item and use it all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A useful tea accessory, November 7, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Surprisingly attractive in appearance, this airpot also performs. They promise 10 hours of temperature mantanence, and they deliver. It keeps my tea piping hot from the time that I make it in the morning until I leave work in the evening...that is if I don't drink it all before then. I sit it on the corner of my desk and have an instant hot cuppa any time I want it. I've also tried iced tea, and it kept that so cold that there was still ice in the bottom of the container when I was finished with the drink (and I only put in a handfull).

The only little niggle that I have with this is the tea infuser. There is no mesh screen in the bottom (though there are screens in the sides) so you have to either toss the leaves with water in them, or tip the infuser sideways in order to drain the water back into the airpot. Regardless, I still love to brew tea in the airpot. I have used loose tea and tea bags; both work wonderfully. Any variety of tea keeps beautifully in this. I've used it for black, herbal, green, and oolong teas.

Just a couple of tips: pre-heat with tap-hot water before using boiling water from the kettle and rinse with soapy water after use. Also, don't let it tip during transport. It isn't leak proof, but does travel very well as long as you keep it upright. I take it back and forth with me to work nearly every day and have had no spills to date.

This was worth every penny and I hope to continue using it for years to come. I love my airpot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great item!, April 10, 2002
My mom and I loved this. It's a great size. Holds just the right amount. It looks quite lovely (what isn't lovely from Japan?). It keeps the tea (and whatever beverage) hot hot hot! And for tea, the tea strainer is perfect. Beautiful gold rim with tiny gold flower etching on each side (just 2 small ones). Oh! I have to add that I am talking about the Airpot (not the tall ones).

Love it! My mom is so pleased that I got it for her.
