Product Description

Color:Gold  |  Size:3-Liter

Zojirushi Micom water boiler and warmer has a micro computerized temperature control and electric dispensing system. It has four keep warm temperature settings: 140, 175, 195, 208 degree F. This unit displays actual water temperature at all times. It is also has an energy saving timer function (6 - 10 hours) - automatically turns on the boiler at a later time to save electricity. Steam-save function automatically lowers the power just before boiling to reduce the amount of stem emitting from the steam vent. Cafe' drip dispensing mode decreases the amount of water dispensed to 60% of the normal setting, making it suitable for brewing cafe' drip coffee.

Who spends money on fancy water heaters? People who like to have fine control over the brewing of their tea. Also, probably some folks who like to have unusual gadgets so they can rub it in the faces of those who are less awesome, but for the sake of this review let's pretend you're not one of those people.

This particular Zojirushi holds enough water for 2-3 people to drink throughout the day. It boils the water first -- this takes about 15-20 minutes -- and then allows it to cool to one of four "keep warm" temperatures. The "keep warm" presets of 208, 195, 175, and 140 are perfect for most kinds of tea, cup o' noodles, baby bottles, and various kinds of water torture on intrusive guests.

The magnetic break-away cord is a fantastic feature that demonstrates Zojirushi's attention to detail. When your mother decides to rearrange your kitchen without warning, you can rest assured that the Zojirushi will be safe from electrical mishaps. Don't ask how I know this.

Other safety features include an automatic shut-down when it runs out of water, a dispenser that will not dispense until you "unlock" it by pressing a button, and a "steam-save" design that limits the amount of steam being vomited into your kitchen. This last feature is especially nice for those of us with wall cabinets extending over the counter. I like to steam my food on the stove, not while it's in storage, thanks.

This device is so simple to use that even my husband can do it. That said, due to the charming Engrish in the instruction book, at first I was under the impression that the timer existed to shut down the machine. I realized later that either my math skills were terrible, or in reality the timer was designed to start it up. Ignore the fact that I ended that sentence with a preposition.

Positive reviews are 100% correct regarding this product. We can't live without it. I do have one thing to say, though. Since it is not a thermal pot, it uses approx 90 watts to maintain a constant water temperature. I bought an International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor here on Amazon and this was the first product that I measured. My plugged in laptop only generated 40 watts of power....half of what this pot generates in standby mode. It comes in at 731 watts to boil water (my toaster takes 457 watts). We use the timer feature at night, but keep it on all day. So, figuring 16 hours of standby use and throwing in an average of three boils a day, we figure that it costs approx $12-15 per month to operate. We COULD take it off standby mode when not in use, but then it takes longer to boil....catch 22.

Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.

We purchased Zojirushi CD-WBC30 Micom Electric 3-Liter Water Boiler and Warmer, Champagne Gold at 12/2013. Now we found the cover is showing rust on several spots of the stainless steel part. The Zojirushi customer service is really not helpful and very rude. They did not read my claim and thought the rust is on the coated container. They first told us to follow the instruction manual to clean the liner. After we explained the rusted spots are on the stainless part of the lid, they simply told us the rust is not harmful to body and we should live with it or pay another $26 to buy a new lid!
Rust on stainless part within 2 months of use is absolutely a defect of product. Zojirushi just refused to cover this with warranty and their customer service is NOT helpful at all.
Considering all the positive reviews, we paid high price for expectation of high quality product. We definitely will NOT recommend any friend to buy this product and also stay away from Zojirushi products considering their non-existing customer service.

This is my second Zojirushi hot water pot. The first one is still going strong after years of use - my daughter stole it and took it to college! The best thing about having a hot water pot is the instant availability of nearly-boiling water. I use it for tea, coffee (I make drip coffee through a single-cup filter) instant oatmeal, cup noodles, etc. It is much more efficient than using the microwave or stovetop.

The inside of the pot is easy to clean - it has a Teflon-like coating. Any mineral build-up comes right off if the cleaning directions are followed to the letter. There are three choices for the "ready" sound - silent, three dings, or a little melody. There are four temp settings and a timer - it is nice to fill the pot and have boiling water ready when I get up in the morning.

I would not have any other brand of hot water pot, and I would NOT want to go back to heating everything in the microwave.

The 3 liter Zorjirushi is exactly what I wanted and I've been very happy with it. It heats and then holds 3 liters of water at your choice of 4 temperatures: 208 F, 195 F, 175 F, or 140 F. Whenever you want to make a cup of tea, you simply place your cup under the outlet and then press the button. Hot water is electrically pumped out in a nice controled stream. It's designed to hold water at a temperature so that you can quickly make tea, but it's not designed to heat one or two cups of water as quickly as a microwave. If you want a quick water boiler, that isn't the intent of the Zorjirushi. If you have a little counter space that you can leave the unit on all day, then you will always have perfect temperature tea water available instantly.

Any time you add water, whether it's just to top off after you've made a cup or it it is a complete fill, the Zojirushi will heat the water all the way to boiling for about a minute before letting it cool back to your temperature setting. The manual said this was to remove chlorine, but it is also a way to ensure pure water in case some users don't dump their water every day like I do. Originally, I would have liked to have the option to skip the boiling step when I was just topping off my water, but now I agree there's good reasons to have it. The only time any steam or humidity comes out of the top of the unit is for about 1 minute while it boils. I pull the unit out from under the cabinets when it's going to boil or else the steam makes the bottom of the cabinets damp. After the boiling is done, I slide the unit back under the cabinets and everything stays completely dry for the rest of the day. I really like the delay timer that allows you to fill the unit before you go to bed and not have it heat up until just before you get up. It probably takes about 15 minutes to completely heat a full load of water to boiling and then have it cool back to 195 F where I leave it.
