Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The very essence of form and function, Zojirushi designed their Zutto line with simplicity in mind, which means organic shapes, and that only the basic functions necessary for operating each appliance were included. With a 5-1/2-cup capacity, this rice cooker and warmer features control buttons that are designated with symbolic icons instead of labels, so they can be universally understood. The unit's spherical inner cooking pan and heating system enables heat to distribute evenly for exceptional results, and its advanced Neuro Fuzzy logic technology allows the rice cooker to make fine adjustments to the temperature and heating time in order to cook perfect rice every time. Menu settings include options for cooking white/sushi rice, porridge, and mixed rice, while the unit's automatic keep-warm function keeps cooked rice hot until it's ready to be served. Other features include an LCD display, a clock and timer function, a detachable inner lid, and a built-in retractable cord. The 680-watt rice cooker measures 13 by 9-7/8 by 7-7/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Product Description

The "Zutto" Collection is Zojirushi's first collection of products that is designed and developed as a series of products. The concept of the Zutto Collection was born as a result of the collaboration between Zojirushi and an interior designer in Japan. Unlike other Zojirushi products, the physical body of the Zutto was designed first, then the inner technology. Zutto (Zoot-tow), meaning "always" in Japanese, is designed to be enjoyed and used universally, for any occasion, anytime. This new Zutto Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer has advanced Neuro Fuzzy logic technology. Menu settings include: white/sushi, porridge, mixed and quick cooking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stylish and well-made, March 16, 2006
By William E. (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Zojirushi NS-DAC10 Zutto Neuro-Fuzzy 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer (Kitchen)
I think this is a perfectly fine rice cooker, perhaps a bit over-priced, but it IS one of the famous "Made in Japan" rice cookers for which Zojirushi is justly famous.

It differs in one main respect from the excellent ZUTTO NP-DA10 model sold in Japan: that one (which has served me brilliantly for 2 years now) uses the Induction Heating cooking method, which this North American version does not have. I think IH would have justified the price of this; without it, well...

Perfectly fine rice, good design and functionality. And I don't agree with the comments about ZUTTO "bombing out" in Japan or cheap or flimsy plastic. The reviews on Amazon.jp (which you can check) are universally positive. See one in person at your local shop before you decide.

5.0 out of 5 stars I thought i must be crazy, but would buy it all over again, January 7, 2007
This review is from: Zojirushi NS-DAC10 Zutto Neuro-Fuzzy 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer (Kitchen)
I love rice, but never rice I made at home.

It never turned out well and I hated the cleanup.
The Zutto makes perfect rice every time (I make long grain, brown and short grain Sushi rice in mine and they all turn out great). It cooks a pretty mean oatmeal too !

I thought I must be crazy for buying a $200 rice cooker when you can buy other models for $15. The Zutto is made better and works better than any other non-comercial cooker I have seen or had rice from though. The rice does indeed turn out better than from other cookers, and guests often comment that it is better tasting than from their own cookers.

Rice turns out perfectly whether you wash it or not (I prefer to wash white rice as I like the flavor better with the starch removed).
The 'keep warm' feature works well too, and you can keep the rice for hours without it drying out.

I have also become addicted to McCann's Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal since buying the Zutto. I have eaten it for breakfast every day that I have been at home since the first time I tried it. McCanns is another delacacy thats time consuming to make on the stove and clean up.
With the Zutto it's a snap. I use two and a half cups of water to one cup of oats in the porridge mode. I load the cooker at night and set the timer feature, and wake up to the smell of oatmeal.

Oh yea, the timer feature. You can set the time you want to eat, and the Zutto will adjust it's start time so it completes cooking at that time. You can have freshly cooked rice waiting when you get home ready to go. It automaticly goes into the keep warm mode when it's done cooking, so even if your an hour or three late getting home you will arrive to perfect rice.

I DO AGREE, it should cost 75 or a hundred bucks less. But if it disapeared tomorrow, I would immediately buy another one.
I started out storing it in my cabinet, but have made space for it on the counter since I use it every day (modt days twice). It looks good enough that it doesn't look out of place too which is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent rice cooker, August 7, 2006
This review is from: Zojirushi NS-DAC10 Zutto Neuro-Fuzzy 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer (Kitchen)
rarely does a product move me to write a review but I have found myself increasingly using the net (and amazon) to review products I am not really familiar with before buying them. Rice cookers were one of those products. So I thought I'd share my experience since I had a hard time finding a review for this rice cooker to help others out. We were microwave rice and stovetop rice cookers until we started eating a lot of sushi. Then we wanted something to make the "perfect rice". This is it. The first time we used it, I let my girlfriend make the rice. It boiled over and made a huge mess and came out totally mushy. I was bummed I spent $200 on a rice cooker that was going to be messy or difficult to use. Then, I watched my girlfriend making it the second time and realized she was putting in 2 times the amount of water required. Following the directions, the 25 or 30 times we have used it since, we get absolutely PERFECT rice. White rice, sticky rice, whatever. It is sylish so it doesn't look like a little crock pot sitting in my contemporary kitchen, the cord retracts into the base for convenience and the thing couldn't be easier to clean. The rice pot, the lid and the steam vent pop out and are easily cleaned. Wipe the rest down with a damp paper towel and you're done. So easy. Rarely is "set it and forget it" associated with perfection, but in this case it is. Would I prefer if it was $100-$150, sure. But I paid $200 and don't regret it.
