I don't like "cooked" coffee. Therefore, when coffee is made, I pour it into a carafe, so the last cup is as fresh as the first.

The best thing about this carafe is it does keep the coffee warm for three hours. It is attractive and easy to clean. I have the brushed stainless steel model, and the exterior will shine right up using a soft cloth. The price is very reasonable.

My biggest complaint is that the carafe "dribbles" when you pour the first cup and makes a mess; not a big mess, but an annoying one. Also, it is quite heavy when full. If I had to do it over, I think I would buy a smaller one. However, this one does hold a full pot of coffee (12-cup).

I bought it for the looks and guess what? Thats all I got. The lid does not fit tight however i could have lived with that. The main complaint is it leaked not from the top but out the bottom. Not just a drop or two it made a mess! Don't be fooled it is not made in Japan. Be prepared to return it.

I purchased the black version of this carafe to keep coffee warm at work. The carafe is glass lined, but very durable. Someone at work dropped the carafe onto something hard, resulting in a dent in the carafe and scratches in the finish. I had expected the glass liner to have shattered, but the carafe is still working fine.

I pour hot water into the carafe and swish it about before dumping the hot water out and adding coffee. Adding the hot water first helps to keep the coffee hot for hours on end. I have come back the next morning to find the coffee still warm from the day before.

My only complaint is that the opening in the carafe is small which makes it impossible to clean. After only a short time, the inside of the carafe has turned a brownish color from the coffee. This is not really a big deal since it does not affect the look of the carafe and we only use it for coffee. But if you mind coffee buildup, you might not like this carafe.

In summary, a great, inexpensive carafe that is durable and will keep your coffee hot for hours if you preheat the carafe with hot water first.

If not fully upright, the liquid contents leak. The seal contains a stop which does not allow the user to close the top to maximum tightness. If you plan on transporting liquids in your vehicle, I do not recommend this carafe.

I bought this carafe shortly after I got a Cuisinart self grinder. It worked at first, but then it leaked! :( However, as good to their word, Amazon was great for replacing it. Now the new one will keep coffee hot ALL DAY. (if I desire, and some days, I do.) I know some reviewers complained about it dripping from the spout when you pour it, but I have not experienced that at all. It works great and I highly recommend it! PEACE

As any coffee snob knows, it's not good to keep coffee sitting on a warming plate. Enter the thermal carafe. When I purchased this particular carafe, I did so because I liked its contemporary appearance as well its low price. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it exceeded my performance expections, too! For the price of 1-2 pounds of good quality coffee, this carafe will keep your liquid gold at just the right temperature for hours! I doubt you could get better performance or looks from most more expensive carafes!

We have had this carafe for about a month and so far, so good. So very good. The coffee stays hot for about five hours without prewarming but for about eight hours if I put hot water in it the night before. The hot water, by the way, is still warm when I dump it out in the morning. I have not encountered any leaks as others have mentioned. The SS finish is very attractive and quite easy to clean. It's very easy to pour, just one half turn, and doesn't drip at all. I am very satisfied. I had bought a plastic lined one first, different brand, and it definitely failed my hot test. Another good part about this Zojirushi is the price. And, I might add, you cannot find these carafes in stores anymore. I tried everywhere imaginable with no luck. Thank you Amazon.

I looked forward to getting this stainless steel finished Zojirushi carafe to keep my freshly brewed coffee hot and tasty. Unfortunately I couldn't give it the top rating it now deserves without some substantial rework.

Upon receipt from Amazon I opened and put some soapy water into it to wash, and prepare for a first use. After a couple of fills and rinses I noted the outer container had taken on water and now sloshed noticeably inside. I unscrewed the plug from the bottom and found even then the design of the upper and lower end caps are both flanged so one can't easily pour the captured water out...imagine if it were coffee or other beverage. Upon looking closely at the plastic plug that presses and holds the bottom of the inner glass vacuum bottle in place, I found it was irregular with lots of flash remaining from the mold process, this was forcing the inner glass vacuum bottle seal to mount against the upper end cap crooked allowing liquid to leak in from the top. I had to trim the excess plastic and lightly file the plastic plug to even it up so everything would interface without leaking...very poor quality control.

After letting the inside dry for a few hours I tightened up the plug and all is well...it now functions as I expected and my coffee was still hot this morning even after 24 hours...and so far no leaks or slosh inside :) The inner glass vacuum bottle doesn't seem to be replaceable like in my old Thermos bottle, the upper and lower plastic ends seem to be permanently attached so I would guess one just buys a new bottle should the glass become damaged.

This Japanese named product is now made in China as others have mentioned. Even the Zojirushi name is now a sticker haphazardly applied at a slight angle to the carafe rather then painted or engraved.

Excellent product. Keeps coffee hot for several hours and doesn't impart a "metallic" taste as I have found with the all stainless steel models. Have not had any problems at all and works as expected. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a 1 liter glass-lined carafe.

In general, I would say that I liked the carafe. It did keep hot things VERY hot, and cold things VERY cold for hours on end. I did not experience the leaking problem that others have spoken about.
I would warn users about using ice in the carafe. In the summer months I would start every day by putting 5 or 6 ice cubes in the carafe, and then fill it with water. Thus, I would have cold water at my desk all day long.
This worked out great for about two months, then one day as I was putting a few ice cubes in the carafe. BOOOM! As I was adding my second or third cube, the glass lining inside just EXPLODED! And I was left with a plastic shell full of glass shards.
I don't see how I could have dropped the ice in too hard, I mean - the ice cubes were smaller than average (small enough to fit through the lid of the carafe), and I wasn't THROWING them in there - just sliding them past the lid openning and then dropping them. I guess maybe the sudden temperature change cuased it - but I didn't go suddenly from boiling hot to ice cold -- just an empty carafe at room temperature with a couple of ice cubes added in. you would think a THERMOS could stand up to that.
