Product Description

Zolushka
Until recently potatoes were grown from mini-tubers confusingly called "seeds". One reason was because plants grown from true seeds (born inside little fruit resembling tiny tomatoes - potato's close cousin) were very irregular in growth from their parents. Now with new hybridizing techniques potatoes can be grown from true seeds just as easily and reliably as tomatoes, peppers or eggplants. True potato seed is a new development offering the advantages of, lower cost than mini-tubers, completely disease free, and always available at the right planting time for gardeners in any region. This is the new wave in potato culture.

These white skinned and white flesh tubers make excellent table potatoes. Fairly firm texture when boiled. They are highly recommended for fries and chips. Plants are compact and erect with pointed smooth leaves and; numerous big white flowers with slight reddish purple tinge on backs.

1.0 out of 5 stars quality of seeds, January 11, 2009
This review is from: Zolushka Potato 50 Seeds - White Skin/White Flesh
I bought theses seeds - as well as many others - and they simply did not come up. I followed all instructions given for planting but had zero results. This was true of about 95% of all the seeds that I bought with these seeds. I live in an area where it is in the 60's at night and 80's during the day (year around). I am at 4,800 feet above sea level in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. The seeds were started in small cups in potting soil in my greenhouse under a very controlled condition.

The seeds were shipped to my Texas address and brought to my home in my auto. I say this so there is no miss-understanding that they were damaged via x-ray by way of a flight.

It was a waste of time and money.

The potato seeds were planted in a row beside some seed potato's. The seed potato's are growing but the seeds refuse to grow. Looks like I am not the only one who had this problem with the potato seeds.

After reading the other reviews, I was wary about trying these seeds. However, I really wanted to find a source of seeds for potatos. I live in the desert southwest, and our growing seasons are 1/2 off of the rest of the world. When seed potatos are available, it's too late to plant them here. LOL, first 100 degree day (usually in April) the potato plants burn off at ground level!!!

I figured, the seeds are only $2.99, so if they don't grow I haven't lost much.

To my great surprise, over half of the seeds have germinated!!! I planted two to a starter (25 total), and EVERY starter has at least one plant growing, many have two!!!! I have started so many, I'm not sure what to do with the extra seedlings!!!

I'm anxious to see how well the plants continue to grow, and how many/large potatos grow!!!!
