Let me start this out by saying that Zombeast is a band that needs to be seen to be fully appriciated. The album is good, dont get me wrong, but to get the full experience you got to see them live.

Anyways, this is a damn good album. I bought it the day it came out, Halloween 06, and its never been far from the stereo since then. The songs range from brutal thrash (Corpse Wont Die) to Anthems (Die Slow, Flesh Eaters) to stirring ballads (Eternity) all macabre and twisted, and none of them disappoint. There is just something about the lyrics crafted by frontman Mario Montecello that evokes a deep gut responce... the hatred and venom you feel in 'Life of Hell' and 'Die Slow' make my skin crawl. Not to be unmentioned are the songs written by bass player Brian Stewart, 'Cthulhu' 'In Nightmares' and 'Black Death' all display a poetic wit and sadistic humor.

Musically, this group could be the bastard lovechild of Samhain and older AFI (think 'Answere That' era) combined with a good deal of orrigional ideas. This isnt a ripoff type band, and despite what they say on their myspace ("We're not trying to change people or re-invent anything with our music") I challenge you to find a band that sounds anything like this (and Son of Sam Doesnt count!)

All that being said... this is a rocking album. Its not very long, but the songs are damn good and their next album promises to be even better.

Now go see them play when they are in your town.

not bad, pretty good musicians...music's tight...

if you liked the misfits with danzig, you will love this;

if you are a lovecraft fan attracted by song 1's title...you may just want to get a copy of song 1 from a friend. still, kind of fun for horror punk/rock fans
