The ultimate Zombi 2 soundtrack, July 10, 1999

At last, after so much fooling around, someone has decided to release a well-researched and wonderfully mastered soundtrack to these massively under-estimated films. Of course, 'Il Gatto Nel Cervello' was made in 1988, and in my opinion, is nowhere near as good as 'Zombi 2', but it still has interesting and haunting music.
I was really attracted to this CD because of the superb presentation of the 'Zombi 2' music. I already own several CDs of this music (including Blackest Heart's Cannibal Ferox/Zombie double album), and I can easily say that this is by far the most complete collection of Fabio Frizzi's and Georgio Tucci's score. Even the wonderful 'Menard's Duty' track, sadly absent from every other soundtrack in its complete version, is included here in its entirety (listed here as sequence '5').
The bottom line? Well, if you're a fan of this film, and let's face it, if you're bothering to read this then you must be, then I strongly urge you to buy this CD. Quite simply, you will NOT find a more complete and beautiful sounding presentation of the score anywhere. The reason I did not vote '5' stars is simply because I'm not a huge fan of the 'Il Gatto Nel Cervello' score. Although, as previously stated, it's still unmistakably Frizzi!
An absolute must!

Frizzi's finest!, September 1, 2005

Well that's what I think, at least. This disc contains Fabio Frizzi's score for the Lucio Fulci classics Zombi 2 (known as plain old Zombie in the US), upon which Frizzi collaborated with Giorgio Cascio, and Un Gatto Nel Cervello (available on DVD as Cat in the Brain). Both scores are fine examples of the kind of music one will hear in low budget Italian horror films. Before getting this CD I had never heard the Cat in the Brain score, but it is a fine counter to what I consider one of my all time favorite Italian horror film scores, Zombi 2. I don't think that there is a Fulci fan out there that would not want to have this music to listen to at one point or another. Highly recommended.
