Product Description

Product Description

Each player controls between one (for 6 players) and six (solo game) survivors of different backgrounds and origins, all battling zombies in a prison and its surrounding areas. Through the missions featured in the game, your team tries to clean out the prison and make it into a safe haven. Good luck-you're going to need it.

Survivors must accomplish specific goals while constantly battling zombies and gaining new skills in the process. Be careful, however: the Danger Level rises with your experience, and the more zombies you kill, the more zombies come for you. In the end, swarms of zombies block your path to victory. Luckily, you have the will and the weapons to kill them all!

Zombicide Season 2: Prison Outbreak is designed both as a stand-alone game for new players and an expansion for Season 1 owners. It's a fast-paced, fun, and easy-to-learn game with action movie characters and themes. Your team must develop innovative tactics to find the balance between survival against all odds and furious zombie hunting. Cooperation and friendship are your best tools to achieve victory. Engage in a Zombicide with your family and friends (ages 13 and up)!

From the Manufacturer

Season 2: Prison Outbreak is a standalone game that takes the players to an indoor environment with vicious close-ranged fights, Prison Outbreak contains all the needed material for a new player to enter the Zombicide universe and lots of content, almost all new, for an existing Zombicide player to expand his game experience. In fact, Prison Outbreak holds even more material than the core game published in 2012 (now nicknamed Season 1). The Prison Outbreak features berserker zombies. They're really tied to each other. Prison tiles display tortuous alleys, small rooms and doors everywhere, filled with berserker zombies immune to ranged weapons. You have to think fast, foresee the improbable and jump into melee at every turn. This is like a modern dungeon where levers are replaced with switches to open or lock doors, use security rooms and reach secret areas. Prison Outbreak also contains six new survivors with their Zombivor aspects. These survivors are really designed to act as a team, as their skills really complement each other. They're precious assets to any Zombicide team. Missions featured in the rulebook form a campaign on their own, as survivors battle to turn a zombie-filled prison into a reliable shelter. Many challenges await them, but they have new tools of the trade: riot shields, automatic shotguns, concrete saws and many more toys. There's even an alternate ending.

This game is a lot of fun. If you don't have the Original Zombicide, this comes with everything you need to get started. If you do have the original Zombicide this makes a great expansion.

For those who are new to Zombicide:
Zombicide is a cooperative game about killing zombies after the zombie apocalypse. This is a complete game (not an expansion) and you will have everything you need to play. The game comes with 9 two sided tiles to make hundreds of boards. It also comes with a ton of zombies, which is good, because you will be killing a ton of zombies. And of course, there are 6 survivors (with zombie versions). There are 10 missions in the instruction book... easily enough for 30 hours of game play. The publisher also publishes tons of additional missions online. The game is good for 1 to 6 players, or more with expansions. The only downside is that the games last 1 - 4 hours (unless you lose earlier).

For those who have the original Zombicide:
Prison Outbreak is a great expansion. The new berserker zombies encourage you to use melee weapons in a way that wasn't present in the original game. This adds quite a bit of strategy to the game. Also, the new tiles make the game infinitely more diverse. Also, the missions in the book are much better than the original ones.

Overall recommendation: Buy this game and enjoy hours of fun with your friends killing zombies!

I finally decided to take the plunge and spend the cash on Zombicide. I had been eyeballing it for awhile, but always balked at the high price tag and already owning other zombie themed games. It has been a huge hit with my gaming group, and we play it at least once a week. The sandbox feel of Zombicide allows for house rules and the creation of custom missions. The campaign the rule book comes with is also great fun.

If I were rating this game purely on how much fun I have playing it, and not as a customer too, it would get five stars. Unfortunately, for the money spent there are a few aspects of the game that I was a bit disappointed with.

While the zombie miniatures are great, the survivor miniatures are a bit cheaply made. Survivors with melee weapons are extremely flimsy. It's such a stark difference in quality between survivors and zombies both in production and appearance I found myself wondering what happened. With so much effort put into the incredible zombie pieces, I really don't understand why some of the survivor ones are so crappy. The player cards could have been sturdier, especially since you're constantly sliding a plastic clip on the top. The main tiles have no laminating at all and the cards and tokens could also use a better lamination job. For example: the laminating Twilight Creations used for Little Dead Riding Hood would have been great. It really makes the pieces feel like they're going to last, which is something a customer wants with such a pricey game like Zombicide and its expansions.

It almost entirely lives up the hype and I plan on purchasing the expansion packs. There is little to no downtime for anyone and a fresh crop of zombies to slay is always right around the corner. This is not a complicated game and the pace is quick.

"Zombicide Season 2: Prison Outbreak" from Guillotine Games is a wonderful new exploration of the Zombicide universe. This game can be played in conjunction with the original, or as a stand-alone game. It features new characters, new tiles (the prison), new scenarios, and some other fun extras like armored Zombies that can only be killed in melee combat. Also, when characters die they can come back as sentient zombies, effectively extending their lives and addressing the problem that many had with the first game- player elimination. When all is said and done, if it is a choice between getting the original or "Prison Outbreak," I'd probably recommend "Prison Outbreak." Essentially the same game, but a whole lot of new, cool stuff.

As good as the first Zombicide was, there were many modifications we made due to poor rules in the first version. The game still was fun but often needed adjustments.

This version is everything we wanted in the first one and more. I am really amazed with how much the developers listened to community and made excellent design choices with this version. The only bummer is there isn't much of a reason to go back and play the original since this version is already a stand alone box set and not an expansion.

I wouldn't trash the old box since the game is flexible enough to use both versions to make your own maps and game modes.

This review isn’t going to rehash how good the game is and reasons to purchase the game.
This is a very good game, great fun and can be replayed without going stale.

If you don’t have any of the games, this is a good first purchase.
Zombicide has active fans and a company dedicated to improving the game and providing useful add-ons.
Together, they ensure we won’t run out of missions, survivors, weapons or zombies.

What am I buying?
The six survivors have the latest skills, several of which are very useful.
The new berserker zombie, which can only be killed in a melee, creates challenging situations that don’t have easy answers.
New equipment includes a concrete saw, nightsticks, and riot shields among others.
The nine double-sided game tiles, 18 different environments, introduce the catastrophic prison environment. Additionally, they have a surprising number of open environments that combine to build complete prisons.
Prison introduces security considerations not found in cities and malls. Numerous doors open when a remote switch is thrown releasing zombies into open halls. Specialize security gates, observation towers and barbwire create new considerations and tactics by providing some real challenges.
The ten missions range from a tutorial to complex multiple objective missions.
Unlike the other two Zombicide games, Prison Outbreak has a number of clear and hold missions where you try to build a safe place for survivors.
Joining the police car and pimpmobile are a taxi, hippiemobile and a muscle car, each with new rules.

Overall, this is a real addition to and an extension of the Zombicide system.
Combined with Season 1 and Toxic City Mall, you have a gigantic game.
Alone, you have an interesting and fun game.
