More About the Author

Hello Loyal Readers: Thanks so much for visiting. I appreciate that you take the time to read my books. And even a negative review is helpful as I seek to improve. So far, I've published Zombie Dawn I, Zombie Dawn II and Pissed Off: A Tale of Violent Revenge. It has been a lot of fun!

I hope that you will enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing. Some day I'll publish the third and final book in the Zombie Dawn trilogy; maybe redo and revise the entire thing.

My third book: "Pissed Off: A Tale of Violent Revenge" is just out. No zombies, but lots of outrageous characters and over the top violence. Sort of a fantasy of what someone might do if they had a really bad visit with their doctor, and decided to take action rather than rot away.

What about me, you ask? I'm a lawyer, with a great wife and kids. I hate cats. Love The Walking Dead. Big Steven King fan. Love Kindle, love the independent publishing movement.

Regards, J.A. Crowley

I can't believe all the 5 star reviews. This thing contains all the excitement, tension, and heart pounding action of an algebra text book. The main character glibly dismisses the deaths of his family members, neighbors, and friends within mere seconds and just continues unemotionally with his mission of finding as many pretty little weapons as he can. There is no insight to a single personality in this book. None. The author seems more concerned with showing off his weapons knowledge and the ammo they used than trying to emotionally invest you in the story and it's character. 1/2 through, I was ready to delete because I don't really want a never ending lesson on guns and ammo. You know that .22's fire 22 caliber rounds. You know that AR 15's fire .223 rounds. That's obvious. I was more emotionally invested in the weapons than the paper thin, shallow characters.

I want my 2.99 back and the 6 hours of my life wasted reading 1/2 of this thing. Don't waste your time folks. Go get a Mark Tufo and get sucked into a story and characters that are actually human and have depth.

I wish I would have spent my dollar on a candy bar instead of this book. Absolutely no character development, I did not care if anyone died or not in this book. With all the weapons and ammo in this book no one should have died at all. Snickers satisfies, this doesn't.

i really did enjoy this book. the ending was really good and left me wanting more. my complaints are that there was not much character development, but often a list of who was with them so long that i lost sight of who was who and i just kind of skimmed through to get to the next obstacle. there were other parts that were listy, particularly whenever they found a new stockpile, they'd say "we found this and this and this and that. we rescued these ppl who could do this and this." those parts were often tough to swallow, again, because there wasn't much depth to them. but i really liked the new storyline of different grades of zombies. i liked the main character and how he thought. i am curious to see more about how certain zombies would retain knowledge and hatred and use that against humans. the author has put zombies on my brain and i like them there, as long as they aren't eating.

I thought this book was amazing, I didn't see the ending coming (I mean aside from the massive zombie attack) and it has me excited to read the next installation in this series. I agree with some of the other reviews where the author went into overdrive with the weapons and ammo, I'm a woman (albeit former military) and I really didn't care what the calibers and models were. I am more about the story and it was definitely delivered! The journey that the character and his family go on is one we can all connect to in one form or another, the sibling rivalry, the father who everyone secretly fears but abundantly loves, the mother who knew her husband better than anyone thought, it's all in this book. I admitt I jumped over a lot of the lengthy weapons listings that occurred multiple times and made the overall feel of that part feel too contrived. No one would find ammo that easily, certainly not that caliber; and claymore mines (a personal favorite from basic) I sincerely hope are not in people's hands out here in middle, south, east and west America. It was sometimes hard to envision what the authour was trying to describe when explaining kill zones in the cities. On the opposite end of the spectrum the zombies and the hierarchy, the human interaction with a new "species" was original and executed in great zest allowing me to feel the fear that is sometimes missing in other books of this genre. Despite some of my less that flattering comments the book was overall a well written and extremely well thought out novel. Bottom line...I am very excited to read book two!

I have read many a zombie books over the past few years and this is easily the best. The writing is superb, the characters are intriguing, and it has left me with a feeling of wanting more. I can not wait for a second book. Congratulations on a job well done J.A. Crowley. I will be following everything you write from this point on.

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job on character development and made me really care about the people of this story. There MUST be a sequel, please do not let us down. So much is left hanging that I can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend this book to all zombie fans.

J.A. Crowley did a great job on Zombie Dawn! I hope he is diligently writing a sequel! Zombie Dawn is a great read about a sudden zombie apocolype that this family seems already pretty well prepared for, but they certainly have their work cut out for them to survive. I highly recommend it at the great price of just $2.99! Keep writing Crowley :-)

I read the sample and wound up purchasing the book in hopes that it would get better. This reads like a high school essay and lacks any substance. I cared for none of the characters and really could have done without the extensive description of the guns that were being used. It was an okay effort but just not enjoyable by me. Maybe someone who is a survivalist would get some enjoyment from this novel but I wouldn't recommend it for horror fans. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and just wound up wanting the zombies to come and eat everyone so the book would be over.
