5.0 out of 5 stars Deliciously Evil Psychobilly FUn
Jesse Dayton and his ragtag company of hold steadies have done it again, only this time with a decidedly macabre and evil twist! It seems that after months of anticipation with video teases, webisodes, and small leaks we are finally treated to a psychobilly hellstorm, complete with all the b-movie horror references, Buck Owens versus the Cramps riffs, and blood-soaked...

Jesse Dayton and his ragtag company of hold steadies have done it again, only this time with a decidedly macabre and evil twist! It seems that after months of anticipation with video teases, webisodes, and small leaks we are finally treated to a psychobilly hellstorm, complete with all the b-movie horror references, Buck Owens versus the Cramps riffs, and blood-soaked lyricism our little minds can handle. This is definitely the psychobilly album I've been waiting for, one that doesn't take itself too seriously but is recorded with enough professionalism by consummate professionals to keep me coming back for more. Jesse Dayton, AKA Captain Clegg, is a star of the scene and one of the few rockabilly players today with enough miles in his rear-view mirror to actually appreciate and understand what an audience wants out of some horror-infused rock and roll. Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures delivers - a must-have for horror fans, psychobilly stompers, and rockabilly rioters all.

I'm in love with Captain Clegg. Thank you Rob Zombie for bringing Clegg into our lives. My favorite tracks are Zombie A Go Go (so evil!) and Day of the Dead. Great stuff from my man Jesse Dayton. It's interesting to see another side of this country boy. I didn't know he had it in him, but now I see that Captain Clegg has been living in him for a while and it shows in the music. This beast was itching to get out!

Not having seen Halloween 2 yet, I wasn't familiar with Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures. While attending the Rob Zombie concert in Louisville, KY, Captain Clegg and crew opened up the show. I was really impressed. A lot of people are calling the music Psychobilly, and that is a pretty good description. It is rockabilly with a twist. The music makes you want to move. It's a great mixture of surf music and rockabilly with the right amount of humor and gore mixed in to make it fun, but the musicians are definitely serious at what they do. After a really great performance, I went and bought a Captain Clegg CD and got to meet the band. They were really great meeting the fans, autographing CD's (and girls), and taking pictures.

After the concert, I popped the CD in the player and haven't stopped listening to it since. This is the most fresh, original music that I have heard in years. I am actually excited to listen to it.

This is a fantastic CD and a fun group. Each song is refreshingly different from rock to rockabilly, folk, and even a little bit of classic country (although I am not a fan of country music). I hope these guys really take off, seeing I couldn't buy this CD at my local store. I think Rob Zombie found a great band. Do not pass this up. Great for any music lover and horror fan.

Honestly, I would have never purchased this album if it did not have Rob Zombie's name on it. I liked what I heard on Halloween II and decided to take a chance. This album is amazing! It is not the usual genre of music I would listen to, but I love it. It's great if you are a horror/sci-fi fan and just looking for something fun, and surprisingly the band is quite talented. See them live, as well! Definitely impressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clegg and the Night Creatures..., December 1, 2010
I really enjoyed this CD, even though I'm regularly a heavy metal listener. I first heard these guys on Rob Zombie's Halloween II, and though they really broke away from the pack of 'normal' music. Captain Clegg has a wide array of songs, most of them very country influenced, but some dance influenced, and traditional Mexican influenced. To make this review short, the best way I could explain Captain Clegg is a redneck 50s version of Rob Zombie. If that doesn't raise an eyebrow, at least of curiosity, pass this CD up, but I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freakin' sweet!, August 24, 2009
From the very first track, this album kicks some serious [...] (and make me shake it, too!) Straight up good old fashioned rock and roll. It's not trying too hard, it's not pretentious, it's classic and fun! With the horror vibe... zombies, ghosts, and a little murder (ok, a lot of murder), this CD is a blast. The style pays homage to rock and roll and rockabilly greats and the songs are very catchy! You won't get them out of your head for days!

I've had this CD for a year. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's original and unpredictable. The musicians are first rate and the sound quality is stellar. If you like Halloween themed tunes, you can't do better than Captain Clegg. I just hope they put out another CD in this vein. Are you listening, Captain?

Odd and strange that Rob would crib an entire image and sound from one band, then apply it to another.
Rob seems to forgotten himself as of late...I'm sure the glitz of Hollywood has seen to that.
