5.0 out of 5 stars You'll be singing along after you play this CD once!
I just came back from rehearsal for this musical at the college. I'm costuming and lighting for the show, had previously heard the first 15 minutes of the CD but hadn't until this evening heard all the songs. It is a WONDERFUL show! High energy, great songs (GREAT songs!) fun, campy... I came home singing the songs and decided I must buy the CD right away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lotsa pep, skimps on the laughs
I so much wanted to like this. Small show, fun campy premise, possibility for social commentary on the 1950's "Atomic Cafe" nuclear naivite. To be honest, it fell short for me. The music is servicable, but nothing sticks with me after a couple listens (except perhaps the catchy opening number). Didn't make me laugh. Fun arrangements and an energetic cast...

This review is from: Zombie Prom (1997 Original Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
This is a fun yet corny musical that I devoured!!!My musical theater class is doing the production and its soo fun!!!If you have the soundtrack for hairspray its exactly like it!!! The plot is Toffee and Jonny ,without an H,fall in love. But Toffee's parents force her to break up with him and because of this he commits suicide {jumps into the local nuclear plant}and comes back as a zombie because of Toffee's mourning . Its a fun and up lifting comedy thats sure to make you want to go out with your zombie boyfriend!!!!!!!!!!

My high school is putting on this musical as we speak. The week before auditions, I was having second thoughts, because, as I said, how good could a play called "Zombie Prom" be?
IT'S AWESOME! The music is so catchy and funny and it's completely addictive. It will be years before this gets out of my head!

4.0 out of 5 stars Completely addictive, October 2, 2001

(REAL NAME)
Being a friend of one of the composers, I am a bit biased. But Dana and John have put together every cheesy B-movie cliche imaginable. You feel as if they have watched "Reefer Madness" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space" one too many times. It harkens back to a simpler time when musicals were meant to be just FUN! These songs are going to stick in your head and the characters haunt you. I truly believe that this show will become a cult hit like "Rocky Horror" and "Little Shop of Horrors". This is a must have for true fans of B-movies and musical afficianados alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Morbid Romp!, March 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A cross-between Grease, Night of the Living Dead, and the Rocky Horror Show. Two teenagers from opposite sides of the track fall in love. When their parents and friends force them to break up, Jonny commits suicide in the town's nuclear reactor. But his girlfriend's love brings him back from the dead. Will they be able to go to the prom together, or will the school principal end their happy future? Catchy tunes and witty lyrics make this a fabulous addition to anyone's soundtrack collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Awesome!, May 14, 2006
A Kid's Review
When I first heard of this show, I was like, "Um...what the heck?". But then I learned that our school was going to perform Zombie Prom, so I decided to research the musical, and when I heard the songs, I was hooked. The songs are amazing and the story is one-of-a-kind. It's one of my all time favorites. Two thumbs up!

When I saw the musical last year I knew I just had to have the CD. I was right! I have never regretted buying the CD. The music is funny, sarcastic, and just plain fun. Basically, if you're into B movies and quirky musical soundtracks, you will love this CD. It helps to have a fondness for all things 1950's. However, I think that people who have not seen the musical will not fully appreciate the soundtrack. You have to be able to see the musical in your head while listening to this music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, October 17, 2001

I was scepticle about this show at first, but when I baught the CD, my whole frame of mind was turned around. Just imagaine taking the best things about Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, Rocky Horror, Little Shop Of Horrors, and throw them into a nuclear poper plant, and you get Zombie Prom. A must buy for anyone who enjoys good music or good theater. Also, if you are looking for a show to perform, take a look at this one. You'll like what you see. Believe me.

Well, i'm speaking from experience meaning that I actually did this play about a year ago, and at first I wasn't even intersted in auditioning, but soon did I find out that the music for this play is addicting. And that's my opinion..
