More About the Author

Robert Cordray is a mild mannered government employee who fights a never ending battle for Truth, Justice, and a Zombie Free World.

Seriously, Robert is a former U.S. Army Paratrooper, Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant. During his military career with the 82d ABN & 25 INF DIV, Robert received specialized training in all aspects of light weapons, RECONDO, Jungle Operations, demolition and survival/SEAR. He also attended Non-Commissioned Officer training and graduated from the 18th ABN Corps Sniper School. Additionally Robert was awarded the Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Expeditionary Service, Good Conduct Medals and too much other good stuff that can't be mentioned.

As there really is life after the military, Robert continued his diverse education and is a licensed Paramedic & Instructor, certified Firefighter Vol., I, & II. He has worked in a wide variety of career fields as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Bio-Terrorism Analyst, Disaster Response Coordinator, and Correctional Training Officer.

Robert's hobbies include black powder shooting, modern firearms, trap, skeet, sporting clays, target, and tactical gun sports. His enthusiasm doesn't end there; in Robert's spare time he is an avid reloader, survivalist, bushcraft expert, vegetable gardener, hunter, home construction novice, cook, home canner and Zombie expert. If that isn't enough, Robert is an accomplished author, lyricist, lecturer and all around great guy.

In 2008 his first book, "Zombies 101," was nominated for the Mail Order Zombie Dead Letter Awards in the category of Best Book, Non-Ficton. Robert was also a contributing author to "Zombology" which was the winner of the 2009 Mail Order Zombie Dead Letter Awards for Best Anthology.

If that's not enough and Robert sounds too good to be true, I have one more tidbit with which to win you over; he's kind to animals and kids love him too!! Robert has spent his life preparing for the worst; he is ready and has the tools for any disaster. In Robert's own words, "It's not if the dead will rise, it's when!"

The author states near the end of the book that this is not a survival guide despite pointing out on the cover that knowledge is survival.

I always believed that zombies were SciFi fantasy of someones' imagination. After reading Zombies 101, I watch out for people in a different light. I think I know a few Chemical and Automaton zombies. Zombies 101 was highly entertaining and a very educational read. I kept turning to my wife to share what I was reading on almost every page. It has its moments of laughter and shines with witty comments that you would appreciate in an easy read book. I feel I am better prepaired for survival with the knowledge this book imparts to each person who reads it. This book is a must have for anyone who wants to know more.

Yes, the Zompocalypse is approaching. Are you REALLY prepared? Will you survive or just become a shambler waiting on a headshot? "Zombies 101" is a primer to save your butt and Robert just knocks this one outta the undead ballpark. You want REAL information? It's here. In detail. In sequence. Incredible.

Was I prepared before I read this book? Nope. But I'm working on it because of Robert.

Survivalists UNITE!! Your handbook is here.

Robert Cordray provides us with a bit of zombie lore and some scientific knowledge on how and why zombies exist. This is the Reader's Digest condensed version of a few more indepth works out there.
Just beware that you are paying for a slim guide of approximately 70 pages. This was a self published work and well done from that standpoint-very few spelling or contextual errors to be found but it is still very small and the price listed here on Amazon seems rather steep considering.
The author states near the end of the book that this is not a survival guide despite pointing out on the cover that knowledge is survival. In my humble opinion it lacks a bit to be considered a genuine "101" on zombies. What is found in between the pages is a brief history of zombies, a review of various zombie types, what might cause a zombie (viruses) and a very, very brief section on Frequently Asked Questions, advice, etc. on how to handle a zombie outbreak. For fun, the author tosses in how to make a zombie...the drink, not the re-animated creature. The author does attempt to state certain things as fact rather than conjecture about zombies, creating his own line of thinking presented as fact. Someone new to the genre might perhaps takes his views as "truth" however there are certainly other points of views that might disagree with him on certain points and details. Still, he speaks with a passion on the subject and a well researched knowledge.

I did like the list of terms used for zombies. I, like the author, have tried to accumulate a list of various terms for zombies besides that particular word...words such as Rotter and "living impaired". There were other bits and pieces that were entertaining but that specific area at the beginning was the part I most appreciated.

I breezed through this shot read in one sitting, but that doesn't mean it wasn't loaded with info. This book is well thought out and very well researched. One of the things I liked about the book is that it went into detail about the different type of zombies. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a survival guide! Once I finish Roberts other book, I will be going back to reading this one again.
