5.0 out of 5 stars Best Introduction to the Zombies, October 4, 2007
This is the ultimate introduction to the Zombies, one of the most underrated bands of their era. When I first bought this collection, I was only familiar with their single, "Time of the Season." I ended up listening to this CD over and over again, and the Zombies became my favorite band for a while. I bought everything by them I could find. But this is perhaps the band's most succinct collection. I don't often like a CD as much as I like this one. There's not a weak track here. Because I bought the CD in October, such spooky-sounding tracks (after all, they are called the Zombies) as "Gotta Get a Hold of Myself," "Sometimes" and "I Remember When I Loved Her" were just right. I don't like their cover of "Summertime" as much as the band apprently did. But songs like "Leave Me Be" and "Whenever You're Ready" are fantastic. "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No" get lots of airplay, but "Sometimes" is even better--a breathy masterpiece. The Zombies were one of the few bands that broke up because of frustration with their lack of commercial success rather than internal divisions. That's a shame.

This CD could have ended with the 15th track, but the interview at the end with keyboardist and chief song-writer Rod Argent is good and informative, though Argent never answers why they came up with their band name. If you like mid-60s British pop, you should buy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Half the tracks are interview questions., September 27, 2007

All the music tracks are the best, of course, but half of the CD is interview tracks. I love interviews and these tracks are very informative, but it would be better if they were on a separate disc, so that I can just hear music straight through.
