4.0 out of 5 stars fair compilation
This is a mixed emotion album. Five songs off this hits package was never really released until this album came out. The sound quality sounds low so you will have to turn up the volume to get the full effect. The Zombies are a great band. They were in the industry for three years, and had three top ten hits. Two of those three went to #1. I would recommend you get,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Badly needs digital remastering
The Zombies had three great hits in three years: "She's Not There", "You Make Me Feel So Good" and "Time of the Season". I don't know where the rest of this music came from -- I have heard a few of the songs a few times, but most were certainly not "hits" by any definition of the word.

The recording quality is very poor -- it sounds worse than my old LPs. I strongly suggest another compilation if you are a big Zombies fan. This one is not worth the few dollars it costs.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Zombies Greatest Hits, April 27, 2004

This is a good greatest hit compilation. I do agree that it would be nice if it were remastered, but when this disc came out remastering tools were not at their best. Still however you get all the zombies hit singles and some other nice tunes all on one disc. Good introduction to have for the zombies with some pretty good notes inside CD Booklet. If you want to expand on this disc however, you could pick up the latest anthology set.

My top 5:
Tell her no
Time of the season
She's not there
You make me feel so good
Don't cry for me

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT COLLECTION, August 20, 1999

This is a great collection of The Zombies songs. I have listened to this cd many times and I never get tired of it. The Zombies have a darkish feel to their songs that make them sound unique. Buy this album and play it loud!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Zombies have a magnificent sound, September 3, 1998
This review is from: The Zombies - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
As is the case with most artists of their time period, the Zombies created their own unique sound, which is an excellent one. The CD is the definitive Zombies collection, and this is a fine example of a band that should have been big, but was overshadowed by an inferior, yet popular group called the beatles. This album will not disappoint the truly discriminating listener.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombies: A+, Sound Quality: B-, October 24, 2001
This review is from: The Zombies - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
15 remastered originals recorded for Decca between 1964-67, including the single version of "She's Not There" (their first release). Subsequent US hits "Tell Her No" and "Time of the Season" are also included. If the other tracks didn't exactly set the charts on fire, there's no filler here and pretty much every one's a winner. For those entranced with the catchy, yet melancholic British Invasion sounds of the Hollies and the Pretty Things in the mid-'60s or Badfinger in the late-'60s/early-'70s, at least one Zombies release is a must. Purists might recommend Odessey and Oracle, their justly-celebrated swan song, but it features only one hit, "Time of the Season." Greatest Hits, however, isn't as easy to find as some Zombies comps, notably The Singles A's & B's and Absolutely the Best, which boast superior sound quality, but lack "Don't Cry for Me" (which sounds like the blueprint for Redd Kross' entire career), "I Can't Make Up My Mind," "The Kind of Girl," "It's All Right With Me," and "I Don't Want to Know." The artwork is from the original 1964 Parrot album cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good but not definitive., July 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Zombies - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
While this collection of the zombies' songs is very good, it is not complete. The true definitive collection of their work is Singles A's and B's! Check out both CDs since only a few of the songs are on both.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Zombies - 'The Greatest Hits' (DCC) 4 1/2 stars, December 8, 2005
This review is from: The Zombies - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Most definitely, one of the MOST under-appreciated and under-rated bands of all time.I mean if you consider yourself to be a true fan of '60's British Invasion rock&roll and you don't like The Zombies(I've come across a few),you seriously need professional help.A very nicely assembled fifteen track disc that seems to go by very fast whenever played(at least)in my stereo.Tunes that make this CD more than a keeper are "She's Not There","Tell Her No","It's All Right With Me","I Love You" and the unforgetable 1969 gem "Time Of The Season".Actually got to see vocalist Colin Blunstone and keyboardist Rod Argent on a recent summer tour. They did plenty of Zombies material, and some Argent tunes as well.Recommended.

"Time of the Season" is one of the best songs of all time. Their sound is like no other. It's so original and enchanting. I could listen over and over.
