Soda Stereo (or affectionately Soda) was a grounbreaking band in the history of pop-rock in Spanish. Soda released about 4 EPs with remixes, and this is the best of them, followed by Rex Mix (1991). "Zona de Promesas" was launched in 1994, some months after "Dynamo" (1993).
I believe the remixes are well done, the songs sound as lively and current as they were years ago and the sound is very good on Apple Pro Speakers. Now, qualitiative ratings:
Zona de promesas: Magnificent (ah! those guitars are phenomenal giving backup to Cerati's voice)
Primavera 0: Pure techno-rock. I like this better than the studio version from Dynamo
En la ciudad de la furia: From their 1988 album. Ok
Nada personal: Good
Luna Roja: makes me fly. Cerati's departure from Soda can be felt in this song
Cuando pase el temblor: "Des-pier-ta-me, cuando pase el temblor" This is a signature song from Soda, played in all concerts with that sodesque reggae flavor. The mix makes it danceable and likable. i do not think the oh-oh echos by Nicolas and Alejandro Guerrieri, Ezequiel Dero and Tuti Gianakis decrease the quality of this song at all.
Mundo de quimeras: 1988. Rediscovery... very nice that electric piano solo and the song sounds funky
No necesito verte (para saberlo): cool. Slow tempo, slow, sensual motion. Very sensual
Sobredosis de tv: Ok
Lo que sangra (cupula): Another cool mix, adorning the surrealistic lyrics of this song. The rhythm is dictated and alternated at some point between the guitars and synths which at some point mimic wind intruments.

3.0 out of 5 stars Promesas inconclusas, January 9, 2004

4.0 out of 5 stars Some good stuff, November 19, 2001

While most of these remixes are pretty well done, one goes a little overboard: "Cuándo Pase el Temblor" ("When the Tremor Passes") -- if you're not sick and tired of the "Oh oh oh o-o-o-o-oh oh" before the song ends, you must be a glutton for punishment! Nevertheless, "Luna Roja" ("Red Moon"), "No Necesito Verte" ("I Don't Need to See You"), and "Sobredosis de TV" ("Overdose of TV") are quite superior to their original versions. The two original songs on this LP -- "Zona de Promesas" ("Promise Zone") and "Mundo de Quimeras" ("World of Chimeras") are also very enjoyable. The remaining tracks are OK -- not better or worse than the originals, so the five very likeable cuts give this LP an easy 4 of 5 stars.
