This book is full of great color photos, many taken in the wild. For those in love with kingsnakes in general, or the lampropeltis zonata specifically, this is a great reference and pictorial. It is not a book about how to care for kingsnakes though, so if that is what you are looking for, choose another title. This books gives the details of the geographical variations of l.zonata throughout their range along with some interesting information.

If you are interested in keeping l.zonata, check out [...] where you can occasionally find one of these snakes for sale. Ric Blair has led the pack in breeding l.zonata and the offspring of some of his stock makes it onto kingsnake.com now and then. I have a male and three females that will hopefully produce offspring in 2010. If so, they'll be up on [...]

In any case, if you just want a great book with high quality photos and information about [...], this is the book to buy. Search all online sources and you can usually find a good price.

The perfect table book for snake lovers. The pictures are large, colorful and very sharp. The paper is high quality and I will be looking for more books of this type to set on my coffee table.

If you like, own or are considering buying a California Mountain Kingsnake then this is a fine book to get started with. It tells you how to look after them, from general care to breeding and has some great pictures of the different types.
