I am a pastor, not a CPA. Somehow, however, anything regarding the IRS and taxes now comes across my desk in my church. So I needed to get informed, and quickly. I scoured the internet and found a number of good non-profit tax resources. This one from Nolo is quite good: Every Nonprofit's Tax Guide: How to Keep Your Tax-Exempt Status and Avoid IRS Problems.

However, the requirements for churches can be VERY different than for other non-profits, and many people don't realize that. I have gotten bad advice from countless sources who knew non-profit taxes, but not CHURCH non-profit taxes.

This book fills that void wonderfully. The laser-focus is on churches and religious organizations. The writing and explanations are clear and simple without being simplistic. I feel like I'm always getting the straight dope without having to slog though hundreds of pages of minutiae.

So I'm very grateful for this little book, and I'd recommend it to any church who needs to understand the tax implications of how they handle their money. If you're not big enough to hire a CPA to handle your books, then buy this book and follow its advice.

I ordered this product to brush up on the tax laws concerning clergy. It covers many topics of interest thoroughly, yet in an easy to understand format.

Some of the books were okay but some were too deep for me to understand. I especially like John H. Yoder's books and will continue to read more of his. The other books are interesting to have around. Thank you much.
