This review is from: Zondervan NIV Study Bible CD (CD-ROM)
This is a great PDA Bible for many reasons, several of which are already mentioned in other reviews. It is easy to use, has most of the NIV Study Bible notes and crossreferences, comes with a multi color highlighter (great for using different colors for different purposes...red for commands, blue for promises, etc.), you can change the font for easier reading, and it has a great search engine in case you want all of the references to, say "peace" that occured in the New Testament. The programs that come with it are nice as well, including one that tells you what to read if you want to read the Bible in one year, the OT in one year, the NT in one year, and many more options.
I was somewhat disappointed by a few features that would have made it a hands-down 5 star program, though. The original NIV Study Bible has elaborate introductions for each book, including author, purpose, structure, and much more. The Palm version is lacking all of this, and has no introduction at all. The original also has many cultural information boxes all throughout the Bible, like a description of the differences between Pharasees and Sauducees; the palm version does not. The cross references are wonderful - click on a small circle after a verse, and all of the cross references pop up. Simply click on a cross reference, and the program takes you right there. Unfortunately, however, the Palm program has no feature like a "back" button that gets you back to the original text. Finding your original spot is not difficult - it only takes 5 seconds and a little concentration - but would have been much nicer to go instantly back the same way you can instantly get to a cross refernce by clicking on it. Finally, I would be actively marketing this product and the Palm platform to all of my friends if it included all of the wonderful maps that the original has - maps of the Holyland, Jerusalem, the Middle East, the Temple, and others that are in my paper NIV Study Bible. Despite these flaws, however, the program is a joy to use and I highly recommend it to all. I am using a Tungsten T3 - the larger screen size make reading easier.

I love having the Bible on my Treo. Thw Word is always with me because I take my Treo everywhere and I don't always have the space to tote a traditional Bible.
It is very easy to highlight important verses and you can easily navigate through a a particular transalation and quickly jump back and forth between translations. My Treo runs Palm OS, so I don't have the added benefit of a split screen to view two translations at the same time. My complaints with the software are that it should have been designed to run completely from a memory card. It is a horrible memory hog. You must install the programs to your device and the Bibles to a card to get the full functionality of all the programs. These instructions are not included in the documentation; you have to go to [...] to figure out how, even though that contact information isn't included on the CD or in the documentation either. You can call customer service four days a week.

I bought this NIV study bible and really enjoy the options it provides: Daily memorization. Morning and Evening Meditation and Many different ways to "Read the whole bible in a year... read "OT NT PS and Pr. in a year". N.T. in six months". "Daily light on a daily path". Etc. There are many ways to approach your daily study. Easy to navigate and can even highlight in colors. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to take the bible with them on the road or to work or wherever you take your Palm Pilot.

The PalmOne NIV Bible software is easy to install and makes Bible Study easy , convenient and readily available on your Palm Os cell phone or Pslm pilot ( I use the Palm TX ). NIV is an easily understood translation that maintains scripture accuracy while being easy to read. The study notes and references make Bible study easy and the software is easy to move back and forth between your central text and reference tracks.

I really like this program. I have purchased three different Bible programs for my PDA and this one is by far the best of the three.

This review is from: Zondervan NIV Study Bible CD (CD-ROM)
Once installed I found the product to be wonderful. Easy to use. It has great search feature as well as it's very easy to move quickly through references. It has a feature to set up daily reading plans including an alarm to remind you. The Morning and Evening devotions are written by Charles Spurgeon, very well known preacher during a revival period long ago.
If you want to install the bibles to your expansion card, as advertised, you won't find the instructions with your product. I had to go to their website support (filaomobile is the company name) to find the instructions which then easily guided me through the installation. You still have to install a few files to your device. I use the Tungsten E2 and you would really need an expansion card to fit everything. I'd recommend not installing the MDM file (has nothing to do with the Bible software) but that's because when I first tried installing (prior to customer support instructions) I had only a partial install and that file when opened caused my device to have a failure. So if that happens delete it! It could be due to my bad install. I'm glad I bought the product and am now very happy with it. It had some very old translations in there that I wasn't fond of, and so far have deleted one. But love the NIV and KJV. Also American Standard Version (not to be confused with the New American Standard Version) is on there. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent Bible Software,

It is my first Bible software for my Palm, and I have to say it is very good. It has several versions (NIV, KJ, AS, etc). However, the NIV version uses a lot of memory which my Palm (Tungsten T) can't handle without adding an additional memory card. I ended up using the America Standard version which is good enough for me.

bought this as a gift for my dad. He uses it constantly and is always happy to show it off on his Treo......he is reluctant to upgrade his phone now incase this will not be supported by the newest OS version.

I will try not to repeat the information in the other reviews. Installation on my Treo 680 was simple, no memory issues so far. I only use the NIV translation, so I cannot speak to the others.
I previously used the large paper version of the Zondervan Study Bible (ISBN 0310929555 elsewhere on Amazon). The footnotes and cross-references in the Palm version appear to be the same as in the paper version. As noted elsewhere, the Palm version lacks the introductions and sidebars found in the full version. This is a real drawback for me. For example, in Acts chapter 9, the paper version contains a nice 1/3rd page sidebar with a map and description of Roman Damascus. This helps clarify where Paul stayed, along with other information. The maps of Jerusalem in the Gospels and of Paul's missionary journeys are also missing. A number of other ancillary features of the full paper version are also omitted. But...having a Bible at hand when desired is a tremendous benefit. For me, this outweighs the drawbacks I've listed. So, as one's only study Bible, this is good. In conjunction with the larger paper version for the ancillary material, the two together provide a very good combination of portability, availability, and comprehensive study information. I wish I'd gotten it years ago.

I LOVE IT!,

Having a study bible on my palm pilot has been very helpful. Whenever I had some down time I always wished I had my bible. Now I do at all times. It is easy to navigate. Takes up a good amount of memory so just be prepared, but if you have enough memory on a card in your palm, it works great. I have used the memorize help feature a lot as well for memorizing verses. Great product!
