finally, a Bible I can really use,
By
This review is from: Zondervan NIV Wide Margin Bible (Hardcover)
I just received this Bible yesterday and it is like a breath of fresh air. Finally I have room to write my study notes in my Bible. There is a decent amount of space on the margin on each page to write your study notes right next to the Scripture passage. And there are even blank pages at the end of the Bible specifically designed for the purpose for writing additional notes.Even though I only just received the Bible, I have already put it to use and it is already one of my favorite Bibles I have ever owned because it is so useful and practical. One thing that may be a detraction for people is the absence of study notes or commentary in the Bible. For me, though, this is actually a bonus. I do not dig built-in study notes or commentary in the Bible. I also appreciate the single-column format of the Bible-- it makes it more readable for me. What could have made this a better study Bible for me are several things. First, I actually would have liked slightly wider margins on the side, as well as larger margins on the top and bottom of each page for additional space to take notes. I also would have liked even larger print. I also do not dig Christ's words in red. I prefer black lettering throughout the Bible. I also wouldn't have minded a larger concordance in the back either. But I suppose you can't have everything. Again, if you like to take notes in your Bible and find that you never have any room, this Bible is for you. I really like this Bible a lot, and I actually wish I could stock up several more copies of this Bible before it goes out of print.

Want an NIV Bible with room for notes, but does not cost ...,

Most Wide Margin Bibles of any translation cost around fifty dollars. This one not only has wide margins, is an NIV, but has a concordance and a ton of pages to take notes at the end. I really would recomend it.

This Bible is good for notes in the side columns, but would probably be better if there were lines out to the side instead of the current wide open format. This would also be better with a scripture reference column and actually more room to take notes. I was disappointed with the cover bending so easily. This would be better in a genuine leather cover.

WIDE Margin Review,

This is great for note taking (over 1 and 1/2 inches wide on the two outer edges)! The tops, bottom, and inside (binding) margins don't have as much room (about a 1/2 inch top and bottom with 1/4 inch on the binding edge--almost impossible to write on this 1/4 inch due to the binding). Good tool for those who need some writing space like me.

I ordered this bible after my eyes grew weary trying to not only read the 6 print in my
rsv journaling bible, but even trying to read my own notes since the lines to write in were so skinny my writing is tiny. This bible is much nicer I think. The print is good size, and the margins give you plenty of space to take your notes. There are not pre printed lines, but I find that better so you can write your notes in whatever lettering size you like. Ive read a few complaints that the paper is thin, I think it works fine, I've had much thinner. The bible is on the thick side, due to all the space it gives you to take notes. But if you are a note taker and like to keep it all in one bible, this is the best bible offered right now. I think there is room for improvement, but all in all, its the best you are going to get- since I researched every journal or wide margin Bible out there. You wont be disapointed.

I teach a Bible class weekly and this is a great Bible for writing in principles learned in study preparation into the margins, writing in points you want to bring out, etc. Using this Bible, I don't have to write out notes. I can just hold the Scriptures in my hands and teach directly with my notes handy.

Great product, margins are wide enough for great note taking. I'm going through the Bible in 1 year, then giving that Bible with my notes to one of my children. Highly recommend this Bible.

Suits its purpose,

This Bible is a 5-star for those who buy it for its differentiating function: its wide margin. It's probably a two-star for those looking for the other appendages we have come to expect of a Bible: maps, concordances, cross-references etc. This is because this Bible has very little of those 'extras'. I was a little surprised at that, I suppose I was looking to have it all, but then, upon further deliberation, to create that extra space, something has got to give.
I've always been looking for a Bible with wide margins, so I can pen any thoughts or views alongside the word. The Inductive Bible is one such alternative, but it comes in a non-NIV version that I am used to. The Zondervan NIV Wide Margin Bible will serve those who are looking to develop their own commentaries at the sides of the pages. As one former reviewer said, it is not a study bible, but then it was not meant to be.
