The European Leather Bibles are beautiful inside and out, but are not thumb-indexed. Other Top Grain Leather editions are available, both indexed and non-indexed.
It's unfortunate Amazon can't fully describe these Bibles on their pages. I used the Zondervan website (www.zondervan.com) to find out the ISBN numbers for the highest quality, top grain genuine leather bound editions, and ordered the navy indexed model (ISBN 0-310-92982-2). I am very happy with this Bible, as the leather is soft and the look is unique in the navy color with silver page edges. It is also a very thick Bible and has numerous maps, timelines, and other helpful study aides, in addition to the thorough notes. My only complaint is that the font is a rather modern one, and does not look as fancy as the Ryrie Study Bibles. They also have Burgundy and Black, in Top Grain or Bonded Leather, and with or without thumb indices, it's just nearly impossible to tell which is which on Amazon.

Viewed side by side, this is a much nicer Bible than the pebble-grain bonded leather ones; those don't seem enough like real leather. This one does; it looks right, feels right, and smells right. I gave it four stars instead of five because it doesn't seem to be available with indexing. I would also have preferred gold edging to the silver that mine came with, but that's a matter of individual taste only.

I didn't like the rather cheap-looking stamped text on the spine, so I put some acetone on a soft cloth and wiped that away. The stamped text impressions without the silver fill make for a much-improved appearance.

I bought this Bible for my personal study and it is a great resource. I enjoy reading the study information they provide as it gives you a deeper look into the times and customs as well as geography. It can be a little distracting though as sometimes I find myself reading the supplemental information more that I am reading the text of the Bible itself. The leather is not as soft as I thought it would be and when I received it one of the pages had been cut oddly at the factory. Overall a good product.

I love this study bible. The study notes are excellent and insightful. The modern translation is awesome and the Bible's message is brought to life with such clearity. I highly reccomend it to everyone looking for the right Bible to learn the message of God from.

The NIV study Bible is as good as it gets. The NIV translation is accurate and readable. The study notes were written by a team of scholars representing various traditions in evangelical faith. The notes greatly help the average reader understand what the original intent of the author was. I highly recommend this Bible for anyone wanting to understand the Bible.

Most modern alternatives to God's Word, follows the Septuagint (LXX), Samaritan Pentateuch, Alexandrian Text-Type. It is does not follow the most reliable manuscripts, used by the King James Version (KJV)....i.e. the Masoretic Text of the Hebrews and the Greek text used by the Christians at Antioch. Unfortunately, since most people do not study the difference between Bible versions, most of the foreign Bibles being produced are from Contemporary English Versions that are "easier-to-read," but not as faithful at preserving God's words. God pronounces a curse on those who add or take away from His words. God tells us that His words will endure forever and are a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path --- we live by every word which proceeds out of the mouth of God. The Bible tells us that God is the Source of Truth, His nature is unchanging and He cannot lie - He is good and faithful to never contradict Himself.

I love this Bible! The print is a little larger than in most Bibles. I have a hard time comprehending what I read and the explanations given at the bottom of the page help me understand what is trying to be conveyed.
