The Chocolate Peanut Butter Zone Perfect bar is the absolute best tasting of all the "nutrition" bars out there. I am actually not sure how they do it, it tastes so good. It may not be absolute health food, but compared to many options this bar is enough to satisfy a sweet tooth and not totally wreck your eating.

It also contains a lot of various vitamins and minerals.

Other flavors of Zone Bars that are good are: Fudge Graham, Cinnamon Roll, Peanut Toffee
I can eat Chocolate Caramel Cluster in a pinch but is not my favorite
Flavors I've tried and would avoid are: Apple Cinnamon Crunch, Chocolate Almond Raisin, Strawberry Yogurt

Edit: I have reluctantly stopped buying these bars because they contain High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). I am instead now buying the Clif Builder's Bar which are a little more expensive, but have just 1 more g of fat but 4 g more protein and 4 g more fiber. They are almost as tasty.

I just bought the new 'improved' chocolate peanut butter zone bars. I've bought them for years in bulk at Sams. They are the only bar I've seen without HFCS that tastes great. I eat them and feel good about giving them to my family instead of those 'fruity HFCS' bars for snack. When I bit into the 'new' bar the chocolate was very smooth and the inside 'crunch' was chewy. I knew that 'chewy' generally comes from HFCS - it's cheaper.

I called customer service and explained that HFCS goes against everything the Zone is! Abbott Labratories said they have distanced themselves from The Zone and their affiliation with Dr Sears. They explained that they did add calcium and fiber to the bar. However, if you look at the nutritional info the bar is no longer 40-30-30 and sugar and salt contents have also gone up.

If you're disappointed with the change please call them! Until the old formula comes back, I'm on a quest to find the new perfect protein bar...any suggestions?

I went to the trouble of tasting all of the zone bars. Firstly I wanted a between meal replacement/snack/diet bar that had healthy ingredients in the proper proportions and without artificial coloring or flavoring. Nextly, I wanted a good tasting bar. The winners are below.

This Chocolate Peanut Butter bar along with the Chocolate-Almond-Raisin Bar both win top prize for flavor. They are followed in my book by the Double Chocolate and Chocolate Mint Bars. Although I love coconut, the chocolate coconut left an almost acid like too sweet aftertaste on my tongue as did all of the other bars which had the white coating around the outside such as toffee peanut or cinamon bun. However, if you chug a glass of water after eating one of these which you should be doing anyway the aftertaste is gone.

These two top bars (chocolate peanut butter and chocolate almond raisin) aren't the greatest dieting bars because they taste too good as you should have 1/2 a bar about every 2 to 3 hours and it is almost impossible to eat only 1/2 a bar. Pack Man would be proud of me. The half sized snack bars are a perfect alternative for dieters and they come in the Chocolate Peanut Butter but unfortunately not in the Chocolate Almond Raisin yet.

I LOVE these bars, and they have become my new favorite treat. They are better than any candy bar I've ever tasted and even non-dieting family members are stealing and eating them all the time. I've tried many of the flavors and this is the only one I felt very strongly about. The other flavors were mediocre at best, but this chocolate peanut butter bar is DELICIOUS and is FAR better-tasting than other brands of nutrition bars like South Beach Diet bars or Balance bars. While the nutritionals might be slightly worse than SBD bars, the taste is just amazing. The only downside of the bars is you may find it hard to restrict yourself to one a day for a breakfast or a treat, and may want to eat them all the time, ruining any diet.

I must really like these bars to create a video review! (Or: I had some time on my hands, a couple of these bars, and a Flip Mino on my desk that I wanted to play with. Or: as my former student and friend Dan Cook suggests in the comments below, I had a bout of temporary insanity. Still, I do like these.)

I've been eating Zone bars for a while and always liked them, but their new dark chocolate flavors make for what is by far the best tasting meal replacement bar I've tried.

The idea of the bar is to balance out the carbs with protein -- and while a more nutritional bar would reduce the net carbs with fibrous carbohydrates, it probably wouldn't taste as good as this one.

This is ideal for those who want to eat better but can't resist having a dark chocolate snack now and then. It really does taste a lot better than most candy bars -- and is much more satisfying. I can have one of these when I need some energy in the early afternoon and it keeps me going until dinner time.

I was a big fan of the "classic" Apple Cinnamon bars - they were by far my favorite. Nice subtle apple flavor, no messy coatings, nicely filling as a snack. I would give those 5 stars.

The new reformulated "Fruitified" apple cinnamon bars are another matter entirely. It's like the Zone Perfect people listened to some marketing pinhead who was telling them "We need to make these bars flavor-blasted!". The new formula has an over-the-top artificial apple flavor that's just annoying. On top of that, the formulation makes the bars sticky on the surface.

To the Zone Perfect people: Coca-Cola admitted their mistake after bringing out the "New Coke" many years ago, and went back to the tried and true formula. Please, go and do likewise.

I have been using Zone bars for many years, I love the flavor selection but the peanut butter and mint have been my favorites till I tried the new dark chocolate! If you love Zone bars or just love chocolate try these double dark chocolate Zone bars, they are really great. I didn't find they had any medicinal after taste. If you need a quick energy boost when food is just not available carry these with you and you will snap back into your zone. Great for travel when food is not always available. I'm hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and these have really helped keep me going. Good protein to carb ratio. No nasty artificial sweetener like most other bars. They work for me.

I love Zone bars and this flavor is by far the best, especially if you don't like the stange taste chocolate sometimes takes on in these snacks. Very thick and wonderfully crunchy/chewy, they satisfy for both a quick meal and a great snack. I can often eat just half the bar and save the rest for later and it fills me up. Because they are bigger than other bars (and still not too calorific), they really make you feel like you've had something to eat. I like the granola quality to the inside and the fruity flavor/yogurt frosting on the outside. Like I said, yum!

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that these bars taste so good, that I think I am eating candy bars, and I eat more than I need to. They are the best tasting "nutrition" bars that I have ever tasted. Seriously, they taste just like a candy bar. If you want to trick your children into eating something more nutritious than a Butterfingers, than give these a shot. They have more protein than many other bars of the same size. They are addicting. Be warned. A d d i c t i n g !

I am always looking for nutrition snack bars that will help me refuel after workouts, curb between meal hunger pangs, and hopefully, taste great, too! I was encourged by the nutritional profile of the Zone Perfect bar, and I decided to give the Fudge Graham variety a try. This bar comes in at 210 calories, with 7 grams of fat (4 saturated, 0 trans), 21 grams carbs, 1 gram fiber, and an excellent 16 grams protein. The Fudge Gramam flavor has a nice texture--sort of like a Rice Crispie treat--and is covered in a fudge coating, but this had a bit of an artificial taste to me. In addition, I didn't detect any graham flavor, which I found disappointing. The bar did taste good, but I've also had better (the Pria Complete Peanut Butter Crunch are really delicious!), and I would've liked to see more fiber as well. Overall, this is not a bad choice, but keep in mind that there may be better options available.
