  • vaginitis
  • painful sex

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This is a wonderful, easy-to-read, comprehensive guide to all those questions women have regarding gynecological healthcare: from bumps and lumps to pain to vaginosis to yeast infections. Bouchez (coauthor, Getting Pregnant) encourages women to become familiar with their most intimate anatomy in a section titled "Your V Zone Road Map: Where To Begin." In sections titled "Mother Nature's Bounty," she then describes new diagnostic and treatment options for various gynecological problems and explores natural solutions. Bouchez also provides information on sexually transmitted diseases, painful sex, recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs), women and AIDS, new PAP smear technologies, and itches and rashes. A guide to a wide array of personal hygiene products includes indications of their safety and effectiveness. Throughout, there are clear guidelines on when to self-treat and when to seek professional help. Sidebars feature expert opinions. A resource list completes this instructive and helpful book. Highly recommended for all women's health collections. Jodith Janes, Cleveland Clinic Fdn.

More About the Author

I hope many of you may already know me - or at least my writing, as I am the author of 7 books on women's health care. I used to be a health reporter at the New York Daily News, and now I'm with WebMD where I write regularly about women's health care.

I also write a popular syndicated blog -TheRedDressDiary.com - Health and beauty for fabulous women over 40!
Stop by sometime - I know you'll find some news you can use!

I also love sharing information with readers through my various health care web sites:
www.PamperingMom.com(for my pregnancy readers!)
www.YourMenopause.com (for my baby boomer pals!)
www.TheVzone.net - for any woman with questions about her intimate health.

I feel very fortunate to be a medical writer, and to have my work honored by so many health organizations, including The American Cancer Society, The Coalition of Cancer Organizations, The Amerian Academy of Dermatology and many others. I've also received awards from the Medill School of Journalism and the Columbia School of Journalism.

In 1996 I was lucky to be a part of an award winning TV production team where our series on Cancer received an Emmy for best medical documentary.

I believe power is knowledge and I love writing books and articles that empower women to take better care of themselves and their families.

I'd love to hear from any readers - even if you haven't read my books! - I'd like to know what kind of health topics interest you most, and the health books that have helped you the most!

This review is from: The V Zone: A Woman's Guide to Intimate Health Care (Paperback)
I borrowed this book from the library because it was the only book that described vulvodynia, pain of the vulva. I was diagnosed with vulvodynia recently. In fact, it had 25 pages on it. This is an essential book for any woman, because all women sooner or later will experience health issues with their vagina, the more you know the better off you are!
