"Zoo" is full of point-of-view errors, sloppy dialog, one-dimensional main characters, tell-don't-show, and artificially-induced pacing. There are a few neat action sequences, and the premise is fascinating, but the science is horrible, and the moral posturing is infuriating. Ecologists and "green" folks everywhere should bury all the remaindered copies of this book, because the best use it can serve for our ecology is as a carbon sink.

SPOILER ALERT: human-induced ecological collapse is a neat premise. The accidental generation of a pheromone that makes animals hate people is a bit of a stretch. The way in which these premises and plot-whoppers are worked into the story, however, is stupefyingly clumsy to the point of being insulting.

The publisher says "Zoo is the thriller he was born to write." That's a little bit like saying "this cardboard box is the mansion he was born to build," or "this steaming pile of excrement is the meal he was born to eat." My only consolation for having my intelligence insulted by Patterson is that Patterson's publisher has inadvertently insulted him with the glowing praise.

Ugh. The plot is nonsensical. It reads like something out of an old Sci-Fi/Horror film. The only reason I even bothered to finish the novel was just to see what new level of idiocy it would reach. Do NOT buy this book.

A big waste of time and money. I am really disappointed with Mr. Patterson. He is so much better than this mess of imagination and lengthy descriptions.

It appears that like Clive Cussler, James Patterson is franchising his name. Getting other people to write your books, that's as old as Dickens.
The problem is that a different voice appears in every book. Haven't heard the masters voice in years. Pity.
This book is sadly not what the real James Patterson would have written all those years ago.

Well, I just did the unthinkable----I returned a james patterson book I had preordered for my Kindle. The first few chapters were wonderful, then we get introduced to the main character. Now, I have read all of the Alex Cross, Michael Bennett and most of the Women's Murder Club books. I had anxiously awaited Zoo. The main character is so cliched I finally said to myself, ENOUGH! I'm looking for a character with character. Not one with a constant glib expression, one after another. Goodbye, James Patterson.

I was really excited about this book coming out. It sounded so interesting from the description. The first part of the book had so much potential and then it took a completely annoying turn for the second half of the book. It was confusing and not at all believable. I found myself feeling angry that I got tricked into buying another go green book. Very disappointing.

This book is easily the worst James Patterson book ever written. I can't believe something this bad was published.

One star is a much higher rating than this book deserves. It is just awful.

Even a science fiction writer would not choose such a ridiculous premise to base a book upon.

The plot starts out bad and only gets worse. Completely absurd is a good choice of words for it.

Save your time...read anything else. At least then you will not have wasted your time.

I own every novel Patterson has written because he is/was such a great suspense writer. After the first 2 chapters, it was just too gory and unreal. This is the 1st book by JP I couldn't keep reading. So disappointed.
