I purchased this product at Petsmart the other day after reading all the comments. I know that the design should be working so I bought is for my aquarium. This product DOES work, and will stick on very tightly. The problem would be the method of setting this item up; you should hydrolyse it first in water then push it against the glass ABOVE the water, not in water, which means there will be a bubble in the middle of the suction cup. Then move it down under the water surface to the place you want. It will stick to the glass even tighter after a while and hard to be moved again.

The reason of these methods is due to the function of the suction cup. The suction cup is designed for using the atmospheric pressure to push the cup towards the glass tightly, since the atmospheric pressure will be greater than the air in the cup, so a small bubble is required in the middle. If you set this item in the water without any air in the middle, the section cup will lose its function because when you press it in the water, the internal water pressure will almost equals to external water pressure, due to the properties of liquid, which is harder to be depressurised.

I hope this will explain the reason some people thought this item wont work. Moreover, Betta fish does also rest on it :)

I bought this item almost as a joke, because seriously... a giant plastic leaf? My betta ignored it for three days and then flung himself on it. As I type, he's laying sprawled across it looking as deliriously happy as it's possible for a fish to look. Highly recommend.

Oh, and in reference to all the negative reviews stating that the leaf pops off -- there must have been a redesign. My leaf stays put, and the suction cup seems to be working just fine as well (fingers crossed).

I bought this on a whim thinking it was the most ridiculous pet accessory ever. Until my betta started hanging out on it ALL the time. Seriously, he loves it! I occasionally have to adjust the height along the side of the bowl if a little water evaporates (he likes it just about an inch below the surface). He lounges here constantly. When I clean his bowl I just give the leaf a light scrub with an old toothbrush to clean it up. If you have a big enough container for your betta (which you should...do NOT keep them in a tiny little container like they came home from the pet store in)--then you need this item :)

better than the ones in the pet stores. this one has a bendable wire core, which allows you to shape the leaf for your lazy lazy lazy fish.
Bonus: you don't end up with that inevitable scare when your beta is assuming that "deadman sink" position in the base of the tank. They look very relaxed on their little hammock, and seem to only be missing a margarita to complete the slacker image.

My betta freakin' loves this thing! He actually sleeps in in at night and lays in it when, I assume, he's bored. I bent the 'leaf' so that it's curved with the tip just poking out of the water. He'l get on and lay on his side with his head sticking out of the water and occasionally pull his head back down and blow some nest bubbles. At first I thought maybe he was sick or something but after a bit of research on the web I found out that it is perfectly normal for a betta to sleep this way. Weird huh?

My 3 year old decided our Betta needed a bed. She was very insistent and wanted to buy this at the pet store. I assumed it would be a waste of money, but at a little more than $3.50 on amazon (several cheaper than the store), I figured I would humor her. My daughter was able to put it together and stick it in our Betta's tank all by herself. She only needed direction on how close to the surface to put it. With the pressure her little hand applied, it is still holding tight to the side of the tank more than a week later.

To my surprise our little fish was using this thing within an hour of it being installed. My daughter gleefully came to tell me how I was incorrect and that fish do rather enjoy a "bed". He lounges in it several times a day which delights my little girl to no end. Our Betta is happy, my daughter is happy, I saved money, and all that adds up to me being very happy!

I hope everyone reads this; I love this product. But it has a piece of metal wire in it that will rust and hurt your fishies in the longs run. You need to open it at the very tip and take it out. It's still strong enough to hold your Betta Buddies, without any fear of metal issues.

Bought this item in Petsmart after viewing it on Amazon, and I feel like its worth the money. My Betta preferes to hang around the thermometer more often, but if I sprinkle some pellets onto the leaf, he will happy rest his fins on it and nibble at his food! However, he lays in it diagonally and its hilarious.
