I bought this for my three children (4,6,8). They have been playing it regularly for almost two months now. The oldest has gone through some of the scenarios to actually "play" the game. The two youngest play the "kid's zoo" scenario which gives them access to all of the animals and they never run out of money regardless of what they do. The 4 year old can't read so she has to have help with a lot of the parts. Her favorite activity is to name all of the baby animals.

We Googled for easter eggs and found a few mythical animals and funny things we can do. The children have found those interesting.

One thing to note, you can feed animals to each other (all of the killing and eating takes place in a cloud of smoke) and when carnivores escape (either because you aren't maintaining their cages or you bulldoze a hole in the fence) they will tackle your guests and bite or eat them until caught by the zookeepers. No blood, but the people scream.

All in all, this game has been worth the price. It is in the regular rotation with our other computer games and looks like it will be there for a while.

my mom just recently bought my sister and I this game. You can make your own zoo and put in food and gift shops too!! In the complete collection of Zoo Tycoon, you can make Marine animals, Dinosaurs, and regular zoo animals. Be careful though, you want to make your zoo the best, so you can have visitors, and sometimes you can get awards! This game is fun for everyone

The whole family has enjoyed playing Zoo tycoon. I purchased it as a Christmas present for my 11 year old daughter and she immediately began playing and kept going until we kicked her off the computer. Her 7 year old brother also loves playing, although it is a little over his ability level. He can have fun playing but his zoo's are sort of crazy. This game also works very well for adults. I strongly recommend this for all ages.

This is tons better than Roller Coaster, Sea World and all the other "theme park" tycoon games. The details are great, the animals are colorful and fun to look at and the scenarios are challenging, not easy-peasy like other games. The Dinosaur pack adds a really cool element to the game (They have almost all the animals found in Jurassic Park!) and the Marine tanks and animals are extremly detailed (Look at the shadows!) and cute. The only complaints I have are that the jaguars get ticked off if you don't give them a toy and the Bengal Tigers breed too much. Otherwise it is the perfect cure to boredom. A must buy!

Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection for Mac is very fun. The grafics aren't that good but it is still a great game. I love it and play it all the time.

I love this game. I want to be a zoologist or a zookeeper, so it's perfect. I think it's very realistic too. The animals get sick, reproduce, and everything. I STRONGLY recommend this game!!

This is a totally awesome game! Our whole family enjoys it. Be sure you get two disks for the complete version with the Marine Mania Expansion, if not call the Aspyr Technical Support, number in the back of the pamphlet, to have them send it to you -- ask for Andrew - excellent customer service.

I saw this game at a conference being used as an example of how entertainment software could be used as a teaching tool. So I bought a copy and gave it to my nieces. Now they and their aunt have all spent many happy hours creating zoos. The kids have both learned a bit about various animals and their habitats, a bit about the business of running a zoo, including maintenance, animal care, the entertainment side of the business, and even the advantages of doing research. There is indeed a learning curve. It helps a lot with younger kids to play the game once or twice yourself and then guide them at first, but they get the hang of it quickly enough and then have a blast. The aunt is the one who has gotten into the details of the game, tracking statistics and interviewing clients to help her build a profitable zoo. The marina and dinosaur park additions on the second disk are fun. The graphics may not be spectacular, but they are good enough. The whole thing is written with good humor. If I had more time, I would play it more myself.

This game is loads of fun, I spend hours playing it. My only complaint is that I paid $40 for the Mac version and the day after I got it my brother bought it for his PC for only $10. haha

I purchased the game after my 13 year-old continually asked me to get it. He has always loved the "Tycoon" series, but I thought he had outgrown these games. He is really into X-Box now, the Call of Duty type games, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that he really LOVED Zoo Tycoon and to see him spend time on building his ideal zoo (instead of hammering away on the X-box). He has built some incredible zoos. The game really teaches kids about the animals in the zoo,(what type of terrain is best for them, are they social animals or do they prefer to live alone, etc.) so I know there is some real learning happening. Each zoo also starts off with a budget of $500,000. He has zoos that he has created that are now making millions of dollars (the better the zoo, the more people come to visit, the more money guests spend, the higher the profit of the zoo). There's also economics being learned, as he needs to decide the best prices to charge for admissions, snacks, etc. We've had other Tycoon game, but this one is really great. I highly recommend it for kids between ages of about 8 and 14.
