5.0 out of 5 stars worth it for Rufus ...
I'd ever really appreciated the Hollies song "He Ain't Heavy...He's My Brother" until I heard Rufus Wainwright's version on this soundtrack. This single track is worth the price of CD, no question. Awesome voice, awesome conviction, awesome arrangement. It takes my breath away every time I hear it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Yawn -- it was OK
I loved the movie. The soundtrack seemed great. I listened to the music here on Amazon.com before buying the CD. So, I don't know, it was rather repetitive and boring to me. However, my kids and husband like it...Personally I think you need the movie to go with this.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Upbeat Soundtrack, November 5, 2002
By

An upbeat collection of music from the upbeat hilarious movie, where "up" and "beat" are equal partners. This is fluffy pop music with a strong rhythmic backbone, suitable as backdrop for action secquences and catwalk performances of your own. This music will make you want to strut your stuff, if nothing else. There are one or two quirky selections in the material that keep the album from devolving into dancemix monotony. But even those numbers that are danceable in a nouveau noir club kind of way have more soul and interest than your typical club mix. Most people will find no new material in this collection, but will greet each selection as a long lost (or even familiar) friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, January 15, 2004
This review is from: Zoolander (Audio CD)
This is an amazing soundtrack. They even have both versions of Relax. Powerman 5000's remix is GREAT if you like industrial/rock. Even if you don't its a great song. If you dont like that version you can always go back to the oldie version :) They have Beat It remixed by Moby. Now THAT'S a unique track. He did an amazing job sampling the song. The Wiseguys also are important on this soundtrack with Start the Commotion. BT has a great song for you BT fans. All of the songs on this CD fit in great with the movie. This is definatly one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars How could you not..., September 26, 2001

...like a cd that contains No Doubt's brand new single, Love to Love You Baby? Along with that, the old time songs like Wake me up before you Go-go by Wham, or the new BT song, Madskills Mic - all of the songs mesh to come together into a wonderful compilation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mix!, June 21, 2002
This review is from: Zoolander (Audio CD)
Zoolander is just a great hysterical movie to begin with! Much more, this soundtrack is great also! Just in case some of you can't figure it out, this is music from the motion piture, not the original score. I don't even if there was one! Anyway, great music choices for one CD. One of those rare CD's you can just listen to the whole thing whithout changing tracks. A good backround music CD. I especially like the original version of Relax and the new mixed version. I also like Moby's mixed dance beat of Michael Jackson's of Beat It. It all is really good music so it is hard to pick favorites! Anyway, good music to get in any case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie with a great sound track!, October 10, 2001
This review is from: Zoolander (Audio CD)
Ben Stiller did a pretty good job picking out the music for his movie that he wrote, directed, and acted in. Since, he used to be an MTV DJ, I'm not surprised to see that there are a lot of songs from the 80's. I have to say that I like the Powerman 5000's remake of Frankie goes to Hollywood's "Relax." I also like No Doubt's new single. Considering the silliness of the movie, the sound track did a good job capturing the overwhelming seriousness that runway models impose on the rest of uninteresting looking world. Well, I liked, I hope you do too.

4.0 out of 5 stars For most, worth it because of the wiseguys, September 27, 2001

"start the commotion" the slowly rising in fame song that was first heard by most Americans on a car commercial, and on all Zoolander previews, will be enough of a reason for many people to buy this soundtrack. Some of the other songs are revivals, such as "wake me up before you go-go" and "beat it" which no one really can tell how they will float this time. The Wallflowers are always worth a listen, and this soundtrack could give a good introduction for many people to Powerman5000. Hope you enjoy it!

I don't know about the movie, but I do know about this CD. Covers of Donna Summer, Blondie, Bee Gees, and Frankie Goes To Hollywood are great! I paricularly like No Doubt's true to original form on Love To Love You Baby and Rufus Wainright's I Started A Joke. Starting A Commotion - the great song from the Mitsubishi commercials is also on here and it's also great! I'd say it was worth every penny.
