These are great for dry practice drills, practicing malfunctions, and reloading, I prefer these to the other snap caps that look like a regular cartridge but have an orange bullet. These look less like a real live cartridge so I think they are a little bit safer in that it is harder to confuse them with the real thing.

I highly recommend these for anyone who wants to do lots of dry practice. These are great to insert into a magazine with live rounds when you are practicing. It quickly shows you if you are flinching and it allows you to practice malfunctions.

Great for malfunction drills and ball and dummy training. Small rubber cover where primer would be on real casing protects your firearm's firing pin.

This product is expensive and for how much you are paying I would expect better performance. First of all the shells are super lightweight (hollow). Much lighter weight than a standard 230 grain .45 ACP round. From a training/ realism perspective this was a little off-putting for me. When training I have experience repeated issues where the bullet doesn't fully feed into the chamber rendering the trigger on my sig p220 useless. Upon further inspection it looks like the snap cap is not feeding all the way in, which causes the trigger to become limp as if the trigger bar spring has broken (which was highly concerning upon my first encounter with this malfunction). Other than those two issues the product seems to be of high build quality and they fit in the stock sig magazines very well and they have a sturdy aluminum feel to them. I would expect better performance for the price though.

This is a great product. I keep a magazine loaded with these dummies in my 1911 - and I recommend that everyone with a pistol do the same thing. A gun has a much different weight and balance to it when its loaded. If you are like me and you are always playing with your gun just for the sake of handling it, do yourself a favor and load it with dummy ammo. You don't want to train yourself with an empty gun unless you plan on defending yourself with an empty gun.

These are perfect for the job (and safer on your firing pin). The only reason I give these 4 stars instead of 5 is because the price is probably twice as much as I would want to pay for a pack twice as big as this one. $20+ (with shipping) for half a magazine-full of ammo is too steep. And if you want realistic weight and balance in your gun, you will be spending almost $40 for it.

Like everybody else I picked these up to practice various things with my .45 in a safe way. I practice trigger pulls to ensure a nice even pull with no jerking, and drawing from my holster and firing a quick shot mostly. I've ran these through my .45 many times and have not had any feed failures as someone else has noted. Lastly, to my surprise, the company is local to my state, so yeah for me supporting a local business.

So why only 4 stars you ask? Well, the A-Zoom snap cap feels very light. It would have been nice for the snap cap to match the weight of a 230 grain round. It would be more realistic to train with my firearm at it's true loaded weight. So far this finish on each snap cap is intact, but I can see over time feeding these into a steel magazine will most likely result in some scratching. lastly, there are only 5 snap caps per box. Even my 3" .45 has a 6 round magazine. I would have to buy 2 of these to truly fill my magazine to capacity.

If you want to instruct someone how to load, unload, cock, de-cock and dry-fire a .45 caliber pistol this is the way to do it. You can safely instruct someone to perform all these tasks without chance of a accidental discharge.

Also good for us experienced firearms enthusiasts for dry fire practice and to feel the firearm with the weight of being fully loaded.

Construction and quality of these snap-caps are very good, and I have purchased multiple sets for my other calibers too!

Practice all of your standard drills without the expence, or need to drive to the range. Doesn't help with accuracy, but will help with muscle memory!

Not much to say here: they're aluminum snap caps, they feed and cycle like live ammo, they're nearly indestructible. I like these over plastic snap caps very much. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of dry fires my snap caps have seen but they still work flawlessly.

The only negative comments I have are:

A) The red finish wears over time. Not a big deal, really. Just something to note.

2) Your weapon's steel extractor will (naturally) wear the aluminum case rim over time. Again, not a big deal, just dress the burrs with some 600 wet/dry sandpaper and carry on.

Buy lots to keep up your trigger press and weapon manipulation skills. They also work very well for mixing randomly in a magazine of live ammo to simulate a dead primer for tap/rack/bang drills. Highly useful!

These snap caps are excellent. Great for dry firing and great for trigger pull practice. Shipping was fast for these. Kinda pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

These things are pretty awesome. My pistol is a SA 1911 Mil Spec. I wish they came in more of a standard amount, say 7 or 8. The finish on the snap caps are easily scratched away. More than half of the red that used to be is now silver (still fine and they don't leave any paint behind on the gun, as far as I've noticed).

These are probably more reliable than plastic rounds, although I have very limited experience with plastic practice rounds. They seem to be very durable, including dry firing. The place where the firing pin strikes is like a plastic material, not the same as the metal on the outside. I think this is probably better for the firing pin.

Overall these should be used as practice to load and unload ammo, and stagger these inside a magazine with real ammo to see make sure proper jam-unloading procedure is done (not to mention see how you pull down or up or not with the gun expecting it to fire).
