Zoom - Best of the 70's [VHS]

This video was a great concept. However, as a huge original ZOOM fan I feel a little slighted. The bits were fantastic (Fannee Doolee, John Henry, ZOOMers in Wonderland, ZOOM Play of the Week)and it sure brought back a lot of memories for me. Unfortunately, most of the musical numbers and bits were cut short and it kind of leaves you hanging; craving to see more. The video is approximately 40 minutes, and they tried to cram 6 years worth of material in such a short amount of time. Perhaps the best part of this video is the end, where it shows the opening sequence to all 6 seasons. It introduces all of the kids, but because the video is so short, you only get to see a fraction of their talent, and some you don't even get see at all.

I wish that WGBH would release actual complete episodes by season on DVD. Although I am 35 years old, I can still watch this show and be greatly entertained. It takes me back to a time when my only real problem in life was getting my homework done!! Zoom really holds up over the years; it was a superb television show for kids!!

Although I loved the video, honestly I must say that I wanted to see more of the Zoomer in Wonderland and The Cat Came Back, more of the games and finally where are they are now. It was nice to see the kids though it brought back a lot of childhood memories for me. I was a major Zoom fan.

Anyone who grew up watching Zoom in the 70's will find this video a thoroughly enjoyable trek down memory lane that stands up to repeated viewings. For kids who have never seen it, you will not be disappointed! Games, raps, Zoom-dos, musical numbers, ubbi dubbi, zoom guests, Fannee Doolee's, and finally, the complete opening theme of all 6 seasons are all here. Thank you, WBGH, for releasing this excellent retrospective, but don't stop now - - please release some complete episodes, especially from the first three seasons (I thought the cast from those seasons were the coolest kids on earth!)!

I believe the public broadcasting system should release entire episodes of the original ZOOM series from 1972 - 1976.

I also would like the television industry to consider a network channel dedicated to just 70s Childrens' programming ( The Magic Garden, New Zoo Revue, Electric Company, Romparoom, Kid Power (Wee Pals)etc. Boomerang and TVLand are a good start but are missing this scope in particular. These shows are a refreshing look-back to when you could be an aware, thinking individual and not get crammed with reality show spin-offs.

This brings back such wonderful memories! The video is an outstanding collection of clips from the hit 70's TV show - - the first show ever made for kids by kids. I only hope that WGBH releases more editions - - I would very much like to see something akin to "the best of season 1" or "the best musical numbers", etc. - - what we have so far just whets the appetite! I've now seen it many times and am thoroughly entertained by each viewing. And - - surprise bonus - - my 18-month old son can't get enough of it!

WBGH and PBS, thanks for putting out this videotape. I'd really love it if you could release all the 70's Zoom Episodes. That would be so incredible. Please put them out as Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, Season 4, and so on and so on. But it's an incredible tape to see and it brought back nice situations and memories to remember. Thanks for putting this tape out and I appreciate it.
