Brittle,
This review is from: A-Zoom Precision Snap Caps 12 Gauge (2 Pack) (Sports)
I bought 5 packs of these so I could practice and teach others to load my Mossberg 590.
Every single one of the shell rims has chipped when it hits against the shell detente at the end of the magazine tube, resulting in a double feed and a damaged snap cap. Perhaps it is the spring strength in my 8 round tube that causes them to bash into the detente a little harder than on most other guns, but in any case they're breaking and double feeding. Definitely NOT GOOD! They're not unusable, but I'm afraid the whole rim might chip off completely eventually and render them useless. At least I'm getting good practice clearing jams... On the positive side, the anodizing of the caps is tough, and the weight of each cap closely mimics a typical shotshell. The soft primer does its job protecting your firing pin, and they're made of metal, but whatever it is it's very brittle!

So here I have a video of how the snap caps work: They are great for dry firing as they do not damage the firing pin when being dry fired. That being said, here is an example of what happens to them if they are cycled through a pump action 12 gauge. I fully loaded my Extended mag. Remington 870 express with snap caps (7). I bought a pack of 10 snap caps a week ago. I have used 7 them a total of 6 times each. The other 3 I left unused until today. After the shells are cycled through, I hold up one of the snap caps to show how bad the wear/flaking of these caps are after ONLY 6 CYCLES!!! The second shell I hold up is an example of a shell that has been cycled through for the first time in this video. It already shows some serious wear and tear and flakes immediately. Please reconsider before purchasing this product. I hope this information is useful to you. Please message me if you have any questions or experience anything different. -J ALSO: Not shown in this video but they have a terrible tendency to jam or not eject properly when unloaded because they are the weight of a loaded shell, Loaded shells usually do not eject too often so the action on these snap caps is a bit troublesome. IF YOU DO CHOOSE TO PURCHASE THESE SNAP CAPS MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN YOUR GUN AFTER! THEY WILL DAMAGE THE ACTION WITH THE FLAKES THEY LEAVE!!!!!

These slugs have the same heft to them as live rounds do, which is good. They function & cycle through my Rem 870 really well. There's a nice, hard plastic "primer" to cushion your hammer for repeated dry fires. The one thing I don't like about these snap caps is that they are made entirely of very hard anodized metal which will scratch at your bluing. I wish they were made entirely out of PTFE, or some other hard plastic. Over all, they do a good job at what they do, and they will last you a lifetime, I'm sure :-)
