I love the size and form factor of this card.

I use a custom fan profile which is linear from 60C-80C (60-80% fan speed), temps never go past low 70s under maximum load and it's still very quiet.

The card is small, compact and looks very well in my PC.

Got this card to replace R9 290 (reference), as could not bear noise and heat it produced.
Zotac 970 is fraction of R290 size and weight, actually very close to those little HTPC cards. It does not look like anything that could compete with AMD monster. When I saw the GPU in person, I was actually really worried that I made a mistake and the GPU is just not going to perform.

Simply: it is faster than R9 290, uses half of the power and is almost silent compared to R9 290. There is a decent overclocking potential as well (running mine at 1300MHz, just watch for TDP and thermal throttling). I am shocked and going to get another one for SLI very soon.

I have no clue how NVIDIA managed to do this using 28nm chip - it is some sorcery for sure. If you are thinking about getting one: Stop and just click the buy button NOW!

EDIT: Got second card and run them both in SLI - works great. More impressions bellow.

* Performance *

Visibly faster than R9 290. SLI does about 110 fps in Unigine Valley (Exteme HD). On average (without OC) I would say single card is about 10% faster than R9 290.

* Noise *

When GPU is capped by vsync (so does not work at 100%) this thing is virtually inaudible. In benchmarks and demanding games, once it starts doing some real work (Furmark, Valley etc) I can start hearing some humming noise coming from the case, but it is nothing compared to hoover-like roar of R9 290

Keep in mind that target temperature and fan curve can be tuned using tools like Zotac Firestorm (a bit crude but does the job). It usually makes sense to increase target temperature a bit (so fan kicks in only during higher load) and make sure you have got good airflow in the case (so GPU fan does not have to work so hard).

This is my first time trying Zotac.

Good
* If you're looking at these cards, then you've probably already looked at performance benchmarks. Ridiculous frame rates.
* Packaging and the card itself is minimalist but feels high quality. The card's cooler shroud is firm and doesn't have the "cheap, bendy plastic" feel. It might even be metal instead of plastic, I can't actually tell.
* The size of the card is quite tiny. This can be both a pro and a con. The smaller size makes it easy to install/remove, gives room in the case, and avoids 'graphics card sag', but also means there is a higher density of heat generation and less area for the cooler. The fans on this are noticeably smaller than the alternatives. However, even when running MSI Kombustor, the maximum temperature was in the mid-70s even at a high 26C ambient temperature (with fan set to 70%).
* At idle, the temperature is about 13-15C higher than ambient with the default fan profile. The fan is on even when the card is idle, rather than off until a certain temperature threshold is reached like some cards are doing now. This can be a good or bad thing, user preference.
* Isn't orange colored.
* 6+6 power connectors are positioned well, very easy to plug in or take out without giving a sore thumb (...MSI).
* Lifetime warranty for NA region. Requires registration. EDIT: zotacusa.com website says their cards have a 3 year warranty with registration, whereas zotac.com website says it's a lifetime warranty with registration if the card is >$200 MSRP. I am not sure which is correct.

Bad
* No backplate.
* Default 106% power limit. However, with the included Firestorm application, you can easily set the limit to 110%. I am not sure of the base power draw.

Purchased this card since it was the only one in stock during release. I was definitely shocked by how small the card is and was delighted to install it in my itx rig. Outstanding performance being a gtx970 and the dual fan cooler is quiet under load. The 3 year warranty when registered is perfect for me. I was a bit hesitant about purchasing zotac since I've stuck with more popular brands, but this product has broadened my horizons for component purchases.

I am running a mini-ITX build in a SilverStone FT03mini which has limited the graphic length to be under 10 inches. I have been looking for a while for a small card that can fit in this case and replace my GTX 680. Finally here it is! It is small, quiet and powerful. It even consumes lower power than my GTX 680. Isn't that amazing! This card is also made of metal which looks good and helps keep the temperature low.

This card fulfills all of my needs. Power consumption, Price, Size, added support for newer technology and Gaming Power. I went with the EVGA initially but it had sound issues. I normally upgrade with each new x60 release, so this was the first time going with a x70 card. My last x60 had 4GB and as factory clocked so it came in around a similar price with far less gain coming from a 660 before that compared to going to a 970. I use an old Antec Fusion HTPC case so the size of my cards are limited and x60 series usually were good enough for me. The card also runs quite which is another factor that kept me away from the x70 series vs the x60. With the size and pricing power savings, i don't see a point waiting for a x60 release. I upgraded previously to get smoother 3D vision gaming, but this time, i wanted smoother VR gaming with the Oculus Rift dk2 which i own. Hopefully the driver upgrades will enable these new features soon. I'm also eager to see what a 3D vision enabled supported game looks like on the Rift. They are attempting to do conversions similar to VorpX. 3D vision has a huge catalog of support for 3D and a large hacker community to add support when Nvidia doesn't..
