5.0 out of 5 stars This is obviously a book. I loved it!
Well, it clearly states besides the title of the book "HARDCOVER" so I don't understand why people assumed it was a DVD. Also, it clearly states: "Hardcover: 304 pages" I don't think a DVD have pages, so claiming that this product was "misleading" should be discounted based on the fact that the consumer was "misreading" the information.

I dont know what I was thinking but I did not expect this to be a book. I thought it was a beginners workout DVD. Much to my surprise it is a book outlining dance steps, exercises and thier coordinating diet. Great info on diet and how different foods work though (never found that in any other diet plan). The DVD it does come with though is just dance steps and 60 minutes worth of music. I work out enough that I do not want to work that hard at putting this together. If you want just the workout, buy a DVD...if you want a good understanding of this fitness theory, buy this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading description, October 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Zumba®: Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program (Hardcover)
The DVD in this set is not a "fitness DVD". It is simply a presentation of the very basic steps without any type of workout or routine presented. There is also a lot of peppy music, but no workout at all.
All the workouts are in the book, but I found it impossible to visualize the movements from the photos provided. Really, can a person be expected to learn to dance from a book?
If you want a visual introduction to Zumba, you will have to buy one of the videos in the series. This won't do it for you.

I knew it was a BOOK when I got it so the DVD inside the cover was a welcomed bonus for me. I just started taking Zumba classes and it helps me learn the basic movements. I practiced the tutorial and played some of the bonus music toward the end of my workout. I worked up a good sweat just with the sample DVD. I loved it. That was the icing on the cake in my book. (pun intended) Now when I go to class, I can keep up. I plan to get the DVD set later on when I want to do Zumba at home. This book is simply an introduction and background on Zumba for those who are thinking "what is Zumba? or "how did Zumba get started?"

For those who are interested in buying the DVD set, you can do that right on Amazon.com. Just type in: "Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation System DVD Set" and it will pop right up. (See, DVD is in the title). Just be ready to shell out $64.95 plus shipping. I'm sure it is well worth it. It is in my shopping cart to get later on this month.

Consumers, PLEASE do everyone and yourself a favor by reading the information on a product before running off to post a negative comment. It reflects poorly on you by misreading the information before submitting your review.

As they say, "reading IS fundamental."

Happy reading!

1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertizing, January 31, 2010
This review is from: Zumba®: Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program (Hardcover)
The product description of this item claims it's "an exclusive instructional DVD with 60 minutes worth of music to help you Zumba your way to the perfect body." It claims to provide "Hot moves that make you feel like you're on the dance floor-not on the elliptical machine!" This leads the buyer to believe that there will be a work-out provided on the DVD. There isn't. The DVD consists of a few minutes of basic Zumba moves and the rest is music -- just music, no moves. The buyer is expected to create his/her own workout from reading the book. The book's title is: "Zumba: Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program." Only half the title is appropriate. You do get a weight loss program. But if you are new to Zumba, and want to learn how to "Ditch the Workout" and "Join the Party," you are going to have to buy another Zumba product. I can't give this more than one star, due to shady marketing practices.

2.0 out of 5 stars Learning to dance by reading. Really?, March 12, 2011
By
I confess, I bought this book. To be fair, I only bought it in a last ditch effort to save my order. I had cancelled one book from my order and had to find something else to replace it immediately or else lose entire order, per Amazon customer service. So here I am.

This book opens with a chapter about how zumba came about, then follows with an explanation / history of merengue, salsa, cumbia, etc. Next comes a how-to section on doing the moves and lists of music and steps that correspond to do with time markers. Finally, a chapter about fat fighting foods and recipes.

In an orange envelope at the back of the book is a DVD. Is it a DVD that will open you up to the mysteries of Zumba footwork? Well, no. It will barely scratch the surface. It will only teach you a few steps. Then the screen goes gray, with a big timer in the corner. You, my dear reader, open your book to the section with the song list and steps corresponding to time markers. Then you match up the song and the steps to the timer of the particular song you have chosen. Too bad there isn't an instructional sheet that tells you a) how to carry said book and read it, while b) glancing at TV screen to make sure you are doing the steps at the right time as the timer on the screen and c) how to do salsa/merengue/cumbia/whathave you while holding book and reading.

If you, as I do, go to Zumba class already, then the above reading/dancing/timing thing isn't so impossible but have an answer prepared for the inevitable question from your significant other, "what the hell are you doing?"

If you, my dear Zumba-deprived friend, do not already take a Zumba class and think you can learn to dance by reading, I say to you, "Really?" and then I'm going to encourage you to leave your home and take a Zumba class. Or buy the videos. Or the Zumba for Nintendo Wii. All of which are better than this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars People need to read the discription!!!!, October 23, 2009
This review is from: Zumba®: Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program (Hardcover)
First off -- I want to comment on the people who gave this book a 1 or 2 stars because it's a "book" -- well DUH! It says it's a book, it shows it's a book -- well, it must be a book! It tells you where Zumba came from and tells and shows you the basic Zumba steps and it gives a diet that should be followed if you want optimum weight loss....it is NOT the Zumba DVD that you work out to. Don't give something low stars because you can't read or didn't bother to go through the info that is given about an item you are purchasing.

This book is great for what it is -- a Book about the program as a whole - background, diet and dance :)

Sorry to say, that I was very dissapointed with this sale. You can read in my order that says "With DVD." The DVD was not included and I was not interested in the book at all. So I had to return the book.
Thank you anyhow, as I am always pleased with Amazon, especially with the service - Whispernet- you provide to my Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop exercising and do Zumba, November 12, 2010
This review is from: Zumba®: Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program (Hardcover)
I am on restricted exercise from my doctor and used this as a supplement to water aerobics. I am extremely morbidly obese and had been eating healthy six months before purchasing this program.

Although I do the Zumba workouts from a chair, I have seen a tremendous difference in weight loss, physique and stamina! Zumba is awesome, a lot of fun and does not feel like a workout!

I purchased it here because it was cheaper than zumba.com and had free shipping. My only criticism is the commericial cannot due Zumba justice in depicting how much fun it is and does not feel like you are working out.

On days you want to rest, the music lures you back. Stop exercising and BUY NOW!!!

The DVD is just a sampling of the Zumba fitness, it shows you have to do the moves. I purchased it as a gift & the girl loved it.
