Temporary Controlled Power Button provides 90 seconds of temporary power to controlled peripherals

Product Overview

Most of us turn off a television or a computer when we are done using it, but we then fail to turn off devices such as printers, monitors, speakers, DVD players or game consoles to name a few.  These devices will continue to draw power even in sleep mode. With the ZuniDigital Green Power Strip linked to a master device, you will save energy on home and office peripherals that are now powered down once the master is turned off.

The ZuniDigital 7 Outlet Smart Green Surge Protector™ is ideal for both commercial and home office use.  When the master device is powered OFF, power will be eliminated to linked controlled peripherals after 90 seconds.  Saving money, energy, and reducing your carbon footprint has never been easier.

This Smart Green Surge Protector™ equipped with (1) Master, (4) Controlled, and (2) Constant Power Outlets, is ideal for both commercial and home office use.  Simply plug in a master device, such as a computer into the Master Outlet, and then plug in peripheral devices such as monitors, printers, speakers, and scanners into the Controlled Outlets.  When the master device (computer) is powered off, or goes into sleep/standby/hibernation mode, our patented automated digital technology commences a 90 second process to shut off power to the linked peripheral devices that are plugged into the Controlled Outlets.  Power will remain on to peripheral devices that are plugged into the Constant Outlets such as a router, fax machine, lamp, fan, or cell phone / MP3 player charger.

Eliminating Standby Power = Money & Energy Savings

Our product provides an easy way to eliminate standby power thus reducing energy consumption, lowering your electric bill, and decreasing your impact on the environment.

What Makes ZuniDigital Better?

Unique product features such as:

90 Second Shutdown Delay

Most electronic devices sold today are designed to be turned off and/or go into a low power sleep mode without shortening life span. Manufacturers of some electronic devices suggest that they be powered down properly to avoid harm.  Please consult the operating manual for each device.  We have included a protective delay  mechanism to avoid immediate shutdown of peripheral devices in order to allow them time to enter sleep mode. For instance, the optic mechanism of DVD drive will have the opportunity to enter rest mode and thus not contact the DVD if power is immediately shutoff. External hard drives are provided extra protection with our delay feature.  Standard master slave power strips abruptly shutoff power which leads to a greater likelihood of harm to such devices, however, our patented technology helps minimize this risk. A programmed 90 second delay in cutting off power to linked peripheral devices will help eliminate abrupt shutdown which may cause damage to peripheral devices.

Temporary Controlled Power Button

There will be occasions when you need to turn on peripheral devices without turning on the master device. You can do so by pushing the control button and power will be provided for 90 seconds to the controlled outlets, to allow removal of a DVD, video game, or other short-term power needs.  After the 90 second period, power to the peripheral devices will one again be completely eliminated.

Digitally Controlled to Save Money & Energy

With our patented technology, we are able to digitally monitor an electronic device plugged into the master outlet, and read power usage levels of the master device. When the master, such as a television set, is powered off, our Green Power Strip stops the flow of power to all of the devices that are plugged into the Controlled Outlets.  No electrical current will be drawn by these devices and there is no need to turn them off or unplug them.

3-Way Surge Protection

This surge protector offers 1500 Joules and 60,000 Amps of three-way surge protection to your connected equipment.

Quick & Easy Setup

With color coded, easy to read outlet labels, setting up the ZuniDigital Smart Green Surge Protector™ is quick and easy.  Simply plug in your devices and begin saving today!

This thing is great. You've got a 'master' outlet, a few 'control' outlets, and a few 'constant' outlets. Use them how you wish, but I plugged my laptop into the 'master,' my speakers, monitor, and game console into the 'controls' and it works great. When I turn my laptop on, everything else turns on with it, when I turn my laptop off, the smart strip waits 90 seconds, then shuts everything else off, too. For all you number crunchers out there, the magic number is 14 watts - when your 'master' is drawing 14 or more watts, it turns the 'controls' on, if it's drawing less than 14 watts, it turns the 'controls' off. Easy as that. This strip saves money - I haven't done the math yet to see how much exactly it has saved, but it's going to be more than you'd think. The strip also saves energy, of course, for which our strained planet thanks you! Anyway, for the +/- $15 it costs, the payback on this will be almost immediate and you'll be saving money on your energy bills for years to come. Go for it - you're going to love it!

This review is for the Zuni Digital ZG7000. The unit is designed to work with an electronic product acting as the "master" that uses less than 14 watts when turned off and more than 14 watts when turned on. Over and under 14 watts triggers the on and off switch. This unit does not include a wattage adjustment. If the ZG7000 doesn't turn the controlled outlets on and off with the item you are using as the "master" you have try another electronic item as the "master". There is no quick fix.

The unit will not work with electronic products that go into a sleep mode that is less than 14 watts. When the wattage draw by the "master" electronic item falls below 14 watts the controlled plugs shut off. After experimenting with a computer, printer, LDC TV's the only electronic item used as the "master" that worked the ZG7000 was my Vizio LCD. The unit would not work when I plugged my Sony LCD into the "master". When the Sony LCD was turned off it draws more than 14 watts.

I cannot recommend buying this unit. I recommend you spend a little more and buy a smart strip that includes a manual adjustment for the "master" wattage. Currently I own two of those type smart power strips and they are worth the extra $10.00 for this feature. Also the manufacturer will not accept a return if the unit works correctly when a lamp with a 60 or 70 incandescent watt bulb is plugged into the "master". This test is impractical has noting to do with the reason someone would buy this product. Also many states are now outlawing the sale of incandescent bulbs. I don't own any incandescent bulbs.

In the end I did get this unit to work by rewiring so my Vizio LCD became the "master". It was a lot of work and should not have been necessary.

I bought the protector to control fans. I pluged the receiver into the main and the fans into the controlled. THIS WORKS PERFECTLY FOR THAT! Fans turn on automatically and they stay on for 90 seconds after the receiver shuts off. There is no more heat build up in my cabinet.

If your going to save money, it will do that as well. Plugging your tv into the main and say your xbox, dvd player, receiver, and whatever else you can think of into the controlled. They will all power down 90 seconds after.

I was sitting around looking for something that can turn my stuff on automatically and shut it off automatically. THIS GUY IS IT. THIS PRODUCT IS AWESOME

Used a TV in standby as the controlling unit and the slave units are an antenna, PS3, and AIOS Media Center. Worked from the start! Keep in mind, the instructions say the main device needs to draw at least 14Watts while powered on to trigger the switch.

I own five ZuniDigital devices (including a 10 outlet unit), and generally they've been fine. Having more of them offsets the occasional difficulty about to be mentioned. In general, they do the job of turning off power to secondary devices when the primary (TV? Computer?) is turned off (but potentially remains in standby mode). These have worked as specified on four different computer systems, but not for one particular system. That one was a Dell PowerEdge 2900. The symptom was that the off condition was not detected. Perhaps the standby power level was too high? At any rate, better success on "green" (surely a misnomer) power-off with the Dell 2900 when using the Monster GreenPower Digital PowerCenter MDP 800 8-Outlet (also purchased here). A minor nit is that the on-off rocker switch is a bit too easy to trigger. Designs requiring greater force to toggle are preferable.

I just got this thing an hour ago and hooked it up to my entertainment system, and I must say it is perfect for my application. I plugged the LG flat screen into the controlling outlet, and my receiver, subwoofer, Blu-ray, and wireless ethernet adapter (for the Blu-ray) into the controlled outlets. Turn on the TV, and everything else powers up. With the TV off, it took exactly 90 seconds and everything else powered down. Plus, it is a really nice looking, shiny black surge-protected power strip. For 15 bucks? Cannot go wrong. Packed well, as well.
