2.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, Poor Execution, October 11, 2007
This review is from: Zurich AZ900 (Hardcover)
In "Zurich/AZ900" Martha Albrand has a neat idea for a story. Doctor developing treatment for atherosclerosis has had some positive results. One success is a meanie who is involved in espionage. This meanie wants Doc to use treatment to save life of some world leader but also wants to grab the process for financial reasons. Meanwhile, another group of nasties (from a pharmaceutical giant?) gets into the act. Murder, frame-up for murder, kidnapping, double crosses, etc ensue.

Sadly the idea isn't well handled. Much of the book reads like a romance novel featuring Doc's mistress who spends a lot of pages agonizing about her situation. She breaks up with and then reconciles with Doc at least twice. Meanwhile there are the other suitors -- ah, but are they after her or Doc's secrets? The rest of the book is not bad: the plot is OK, the characters only fair, the action scenes are pretty good.
