Beautiful and balanced knives,
By Michael (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Cuisine Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Knife Set with Block (Kitchen)
These are a beautiful set of knives that are perfectly balanced and have a nice solid handle. I found that they felt more secure in my hand than the thinner and more square-shaped "three-rivet" handles in the Henckels four star line or the Wustof classic line. Every single knife from the large chef's knife, to the small paring knife feels substantial and well engineered.
I also love the fact that the set comes with a terrific Santoku knife, unlike most block sets. It makes a great all purpose chopping, dicing knife.

Impressive set of knives,

I bought a 10-piece set of J.A. Henckels International knives at Costco, and when I brought them home, I was very much impressed. But then I thought about the knife selection and the large block, which I didn't need, and I returned them for a refund.
I ended up buying this 8-piece Twin Cuisine set from J.A. Henckels of Germany. And I must say ... there is a huge difference. The Twin Cuisine set is much heavier, much sharper, much better ergonomically. Although the International set (which is the value line made in Spain) was very nice, the Twin Cuisine knives are simply in another league. If you can find them at a good price, they aren't much more expensive. I can see this set being my base for a lifetime. The only piece missing, possibly, is an 8-inch serated utility knive, which is great for cutting bread. Maybe I will add that to the collection.

Great knives,

I purchased the Twin Cuisine 8-piece block set, and I must say that the knives are fantastic. My critique, however, is of the block set as a whole.
The 8-piece set comes with the 3-inch kudamono parer and the 4-inch parer. I don't need both of these knives. The set came with the 5" Santoku when the 7" would be much nicer. I wish I would have done my homework prior to my purchase. But don't get me wrong, these are awesome knives. The knives that were included with the set were chosen to entice me to purchase additional pieces. I would recommend looking into the possibility of buying open-stock knives more tailored to your own needs in the kitchen.

Great knives BUT beware of Amazon,

The knives are fantastic. Great balance, solid feel and wonderful overall performance. However, beware of Amazon! The on-line description says you get a 7" hollow-edge santoku. The set actually has a 5" santoku, not the 7". They would not replace it with the correct knife (only a $10 difference if bought separately). Multiple calls later I got $59.98 credited back to me and over 1 month later the website still has not been corrected.

Great knife, lousy handles,
This review is from: Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Cuisine Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Knife Set with Block (Kitchen)
This is just a quick warning about the Twin Cuisine design for all those that are interested.Four star for the cutting ability of the knife, One star for the handles,(Because you can't click no stars) I have been involved with the restaurant industry for some thirty years now as a Chef, management, designer, contractor etc... So I know good from bad when it comes to restaurant products. About four years ago I decided to purchase a new set of knives. Henckel being one of my top choices, based on previous experience and ownership. I settled on the Twin Cuisine because I liked the larger handle and overall weight of the knives and the look. Full length tang, no rivets and a more robust design of the handle. I purchased from various vendors on Amazon a compliment of around nine knives of various lengths and cutting styles. I also got two sets of the Twin Cuisine Steak Knives. Speaking for the knife, (cutting portion) they are a great set of knives. They keep there edge, (as long as you hone them) and I think I have only had to sharpen them a few times over the years. Now for the handles. Every one of these knives the handles are cracked, not cracking.... cracked. From my 10" chef knife to the steak knives. There is definitely a flaw in the plastic used to mold these handles. I have found references on other forums about this problem with the twin cuisine so buyer-be-ware. Although they are warrantied for life the hassle is you have to send them in one at a time to Henckel, which frankly I have not taken the time to do, and it can take them up to eight weeks to deal with the warranty.

Best knives I've ever owned,
This review is from: Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Cuisine Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Knife Set with Block (Kitchen)
I've owned other Henckels twin knives, and these are by far my favorite. After buying just the boning knife, which is an ergonomic marvel, I decided to get the set. The ice hardened forged blades are razor sharp and retain their edge. The handles are very comfortable to hold. I will definitely be using each and every knife in the set--I was amazed even with the utility knife which makes effortless work of slicing tomatoes and peppers. The technological advances appear to make these knives quite an improvement over Henckels' older knives.

Liked the look of the knives with single piece handle. Very sharp blades. They have a heavy feel with good balance. Need to get used to the heavier feel. Wife already cut herself by just the blade falling against the top of her hand.

Super sharp knives (both blades and appearance)! Very comfortable handling. I use every knife in this set, as well as the 6" chefs knife I purchased separately. They are worth every penny!

I Like the knoives alot, they are very well balanced. They don't quite hold a perfect edge for as long as I would like, although my expectations may be overly optimistic. In general I am very pleased.
